Can the name Matthew be used if we are Jewish?

We are going to be naming our baby after my grandmother whose name started with an M. My favorite M name for a boy is Matthew, but didn't know if this name can or should be used. I am Jewish and my husband and I follow Jewish traditions. Just wanted to hear people's opinions.

I am not sure about Jewish naming traditions but according to behindthename.com Matthew is the English form of a Greek name which originated from a hebrew name meaning "gift of yahweh". Matthew was one of the apostles in the new testament and is a catholic saint and is also known as Levi (which I believe is a jewish name)
As far as M names go, I have always liked the traditional Jewish M names: Malachi, Mordecai, and Moshe
