Answer
Mom-a nice scarf, or something useful. Is there a small kitchen appliance that you could replace? Or a casserole dish, or maybe something that broke that she's been meaning to get a new one of? Useful gifts are nice especially if someone isn't too materialistic. Maybe a cute little apron?
Dad-Maybe a hickory farms thing with the meats and cheeses. Does your Dad have a hobby? Like my Dad loves to put puzzles together. is there something like that that you Dad likes?
Grandma- a framed picture of the family.
Uncle-Does he drink? Maybe a bottle of some type of alcohol (you might have to give the money to an older relative to buy it for you to give to him). But then again, maybe alcohol and pill popping won't mix all that well....hmm...They have some cute #1 Uncle shirts on Amazon and they're not that expensive.
Niece-does she like barbie? are there any tv shows she's into? Maybe get her a toy from a tv show, or movie she likes.

Cheap gifts for your mom (under 20$)?

yes i have good acquaintance with her thats different i cant ask her what kind of gift you like.i have to find and need to surprise her.gift should be amazing and surprise her.
her birthday is june 16 my dear friends forgot to tell.some more ideas(different)

Answer
Whatever gift you shall give to her will strongly depend on 2 things -the kind of person she is & the relationship you already have with her. If you are just acquaintance then what would present should be simple and thoughtful like birthday cards if you know her birthday, not expensive gifts like jewelries it will make her think you see her as an "easily-won-by-material-thing" if u are already great friends give her a gift that will make her remember you like a necklace or something she would use everytime. I hope my answer helps you greatly.

Gift ideas for baby?

Rachel B

If you were to put together a gift basket for someone who just had their first baby, what would you put in it?

Answer
Vaseline, a little pack of diapers, day & night time lotions, travel wipes, a couple of cute onesies or outfits, pacifier, small toy or 2 (rattle, set of keys, etc), soothing music CD, baby wash, bib, washcloth & hooded towel.

You don't have to put ALL that in. I figured you can pick a few things out from there. Maybe even a gift for the new parents as well? A gift cert maybe?

New baby 2 B born N Feb, need gift ideas for siblings (8,6 & 2)?

Tawna A

We have 2 boys (our oldest will be 9 in Feb & 6 yr old) a girl (she will be 2 in Feb) and we will be having another girl. I was just wondering if any one had any good ideas for gifts for our children so that when BB sis is born they don't have any hard feelings toward the BB & thinking she is getting more attention (& is Luved more). And should we leave the gifts W/ the person who will B watching them & let them have them after we call & tell them BB is born OR should we give them 2 them when they come 2 the hospital 2 C BB OR should we wait for when we come home W/ BB?

Answer
Do the boys like any specific toys? Like Disney Cars, Star Wars etc? If so, get them a figurine or something that they could play with to keep them occupied. Also, for your daughter, get her a toy baby. She can then pretend it's her baby and feed and change it etc whilst you're doing that stuff with your newborn. I think the boys would get used to the new baby quite quickly because they've been there, done that, so a new favorite toy should keep them occupied, where as your daughter has not experienced a new sibling arriving the doll could both keep her occupied and keep her from feeling left out, if she has a baby of her own to look after then she may not be so fussed when you're looking after the new baby.
And of course, try to get all the kids involved in caring for the baby, let the elders have their cuddles and have your daughter help gather nappy changing supplies and help with bathing etc, it will really help them bond.
Oh and give the toys upon coming home.
Good luck!

Valentines Day Gift?

Kai

Last year my boyfriend didn't do anything for Valentines - this year he says he's going to give me a gift. but now i'm worried; what do i give him? here is a little about him:

we've been together for almost 2 years
we have an 8 month old boy together
he loves movies and comedy

ok that's all i can think of right now - if you have any more questions just ask - and thank you so much for the answers!

Answer
With a baby in the house the best gift I would say would be getting a baby sitter! Have your baby go out for the evening at a sitters and plan a special dinner. Buy yourself some sexy lingerie and wrap it up and give it to HIM as his gift. Decorate the house with rose petals. Cook a yummy dinner and then give him his "gift". I think that would mean more than a movie!

christening money gift?

Mario123

I am going to be a godmother and I would like to gift money for the baby. What is the best way to give money so I make sure it is for the baby's future and parents won't spend it? I don't want to ask directly for the baby's college or savings account, as I know he has one, I don't think it is appropriate. Any ideas?

Answer
Believe it or not, lots of responsible parents don't have college funds set up yet. (Ahem!) It doesn't mean we are boozing up all our extra savings. Maybe we are spending it on food, diapers and the occasional pizza delivery. Is that really so bad?

If you know there is some longer-term savings fund, you can ask that the money go straight to that, otherwise either give or don't.

baby shower etiquette?

indycouchh

If there is a complication during the delivery of a baby and he/she does not survive, what is the proper etiquette for handling any baby gifts received? Should they be returned to the giver, donated to charity, or exchanged for cash for the family? What is the proper protocol in such situations? I know that in the case of an engagement party that if the couple separate before the wedding that the gifts must be promptly returned. But I could not find an answer online for this particular situation!

(This is just hypothetical in my case, please don't be concerned!) :0)

Answer
Within a month or so after the tragic death of an expected baby, the parents for whom the shower was given should ask the gift-givers if they'd like them to return the gifts back to them. They could say they'd been advised not to even try for another child for several more months.

Most givers will be generous, and say, "We're sure you'll be able to have a baby some time in the near future. Please keep our gift as a token of our wish for a successful outcome next time."

If the giver is hard up for money, or has given a family heirloom, it's OK to just return their gift with many thanks.

christmas gifts for baby?

mommy2b

My friends and family keep asking me what they should get my 8 week old daughter for Christmas but I don't know what to tell them. Any suggestions on good gifts for a baby 2 months on? She already has a swing, bouncer and play mat! What are some of the great toys and gear you used??? Thanks!!!

Answer
She's not going to even know it's Christmas. Kinda silly getting her a bunch of stuff.

I'd ask for gift cards to stores you like to shop, for baby clothes or whatever as she grows. Diapers in varying sizes, crib sheets, etc.

christmas gift for baby?

C O

We had a son in April and he's beginning to be so interactive and so much fun! We want to get our Christmas shopping done for him and there is a ton of things out there for baby!! He'll be almost 9 months at Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be a good gift?? Things your babies loved? Things to avoid?? Thanks!! :)

Answer
my baby was around that age, and we purchased playskools ball popper, fisher prices zebra and piano (for a few months later), etc. just look for toys with music, lights, movement, education, and mirrors! to tell you the truth... my daughter LOVED her toys; however, it seems that she likes to get a hold of my keys, pots and pans, and remote even more! you might want to invest in those! lol.

A nice gift for a new baby? I'm going to see the new baby and her mom today?

Pretty me

Baloons, flowers etc ????

Answer
hi. Gifts for the baby are great, but by now the baby probably has all it needs. I always go with a blanket or baby bible myself.(there are bibles for boys and girls) However, don't forget about mom. I always try to find a basket and put girl stuff in it just for her. This helps with mothers with the baby blues especially. I have put finger nail products, ear-rings, bath bubbles. etc. Just an idea. You can do it fairly cheep, and it could make a world of difference for the mom. Good luck.

My best friend is having a baby in October and I was wondering what would be some good ideas on what I should get her. I want to get her stuff for the baby and stuff for her and her hubby. I live in Arkansas and she lives in California so I will need to be able to ship it. Thanks for your ideas.

Answer
What about the necessities.....I am a mom to be and would love to get clothes (even ones that are not neccisarly for a newborn but maybe for when the baby is 12 months or so). Also a mom can never have to many diapers(for when the baby is a little older like 6-9 months, yearl old or so). Mabye get some of these with baby lotion, baby shampoo, and put them in a little basket for her.

Is it proper to give a new baby gift to a family who just adopted a 9 month old?

lanternwas

Hi, my pastor's family just adopted a 9 month old baby from China, and I was wondering whether it was proper to get them a gift/card for a new baby. I usually make my friends baby blankets and I can make one for a 9 month old ( she won't be that big :) but I'm not sure if that would be weird, or silly, because she's not an infant. Thank you!!!!

Answer
That would be so sweet! They've done a wonderful thing adopting this child, and she is a NEW baby for them, even if she is 9 months old. I think your gift would add to their joy and be appreciated.

Go for it. :-)

is my toddler gifted?

Allie

my daughter is almost 15 months old, she started walking at 8 months old... she says around 30 words, she doesnt speak full sentences most of the time its "daddy bottle" or "thank you" whenever you give her anything welcome whenever she gives you something. ( we are working on please lol) though most of the time its bieber lol she loves him. she will sit there for hours and try to draw.. she will draw several circles, and dances every single time a song comes on, and if there isnt music playing.. she will dance and try to sing baby over and over. loves to sit down with me while i read to her. if you ask her to throw something away, she will throw it away.. she understands everything i ask her to do, whether its go sit down or grab your books. and picks things up sooo fast, if she watches you do something once.. she will spend the whole day doing it. i know she is a little young to find out for sure.. but is she gifted?

Answer
My baby could do those things to at 15 months. He started walking at 9 months. He cannot draw a circle though! LOL! He's 17 months and I get lots of squiggly lines and dots! He can understand what I say and do things upon asking, but he can't make long sentances just yet or remember songs. So I'd say your daughter is somewhat advanced. I also agree with the other answers: Great job mama!! Keep it up! You'll know soon enough! :)

Gift ideas for Mother's Day??? Anyone?

emmadoll

I need some gift ideas for mom, the woman who has everything. Please do not suggest flowers or candy... that's boring. Thanks!

Answer
How about a gift certificate to a spa, if you have the money like a 150 dollar one so she can get a nice massage and maybe a new hairstyle.

If money is tight how about a year magazine subscription that has something to do with one of her hobbies, like a gardening magazine, cooking, baking, home decorating, etc. You can get a year subscription for about 20 dollars and its thoughtful and not just like flowers that are gone in a week..a magazine subscription keeps giving. You can right in the card something cheesy like I got you a gift that will be there the whole year just like you are for me :)

Or something for around the house a cappuccino maker? A new set of pots and pans? George forman grill? New dishes? New bath towels? A new comforter set? A maid service for a month so she doesn't have to clean. New vacuum cleaner? A gas gift card, or grocery store gift card, a few books on things shes interested in, a series of a tv show she likes on dvd, (lol ok I think I'm giving you my list of what I would like- maybe it can spark an idea though..)

hope i helped :)

Me and my sister want to buy our mom something special this christmas any good ideas?
Me and my sister want to buy a really special gift for our mom this year except the only problem is our budget is a little tight please help.

Answer
Hi

There are two ways you can approach this. First, you can give her the same traditional Christmas gifts that people always give their moms â like perfume, a bathrobe, or a kitchen gadget. Second, you can take the surprise route and give her something she wouldnât expect from you, but would love to receive!

There are some great ideas here:

http://www.squidoo.com/christmas-gift-for-mom

Letâs talk about traditional gifts for mom during the holidays. Moms love getting these types of presents because theyâre usually the kind of things that are easy for their loved ones to figure out for them.

Perfume is a great gift for mom, but instead of just buying a single fragrance, why not buy a gift set that includes the fragrance, plus some bath and body items to boot. Some perfume gift sets for mom even include luxury items like jewelry.

Bathrooms that are luxurious can help pamper mom after a long day at work (or home). You can find plush microfiber bathrobes that feel amazing, or stick to a terrycloth robe if thatâs what she prefers â just make sure you get the length right.

For the kitchen, some of the perfect gifts for mom this year will be programmable slow cookers where they can start dinner early and have it ready by the time their work is all done. A standing mixer is also a welcomed kitchen gadget for mom.

Now if you want to shock her by giving her a gift she wouldnât have even thought to ask for, but will really appreciate, why not go with a technical gadget that sheâd normally be buying for someone else?

For example, a portable vehicle GPS system wouldnât break the bank for you, but it would ensure mom never gets lost on the road. Is she a fitness buff? Get her a watch-based GPS fitness monitor made by Garmin. It not only tracks her workout and stats, but it makes sure that if sheâs hiking or biking somewhere, sheâll have maps to get her home safely.

Everyoneâs switching to HDTV and Blu Ray technology. Does mom have this yet? If not, why not upgrade her set so that she can watch all of her favorite shows in high definition. Give her a gift certificate so that she can order some of her favorite Blue Ray discs, too.

Gifts for mom donât have to be the same, old boring routine. But then again, maybe mom relies on traditional gifts because itâs when she expects them. Youâll have to make that tough decision, but at least now you have some ideas to run with.

Hope that helps

Take care

Paul

Baby & Mom Gifts?

India

My best friend is having a baby in October and I was wondering what would be some good ideas on what I should get her. I want to get her stuff for the baby and stuff for her and her hubby. I live in Arkansas and she lives in California so I will need to be able to ship it. Thanks for your ideas.

Answer
For my friend I bought a small laundry basket and filled it with useful baby things. If that would be too much for you to ship, you could buy her something nice. My friend really liked the silver 'baby's first year' frame I got her.

For mom, pampering stuff is great. I got my friend nice bath soaks, foot scrub, foot soak, leg relaxer stuff, one of those eye masks that you can freeze or heat, body butter, etc. She loved it. I also loved stuff like that after I had my baby. There are also tablets that can be put in the shower. They melt and release calming scents. Its great for the time after birth when the mom still cant take a bath. Or, you can buy her a gift card to a womans clothing store, so she can buy herself a nice new outfit , since her pre-pregnancy clothes will most likely NOT fit for a while! Or a gift certificate to a spa or a nail salon or something would be nice.

A nice gift for a new baby? I'm going to see the new baby and her mom today?

Mom-to-be being too picky?

ladydianne

I am throwing a baby shower for a friend who is expecting twins. Is it rude if I include on the invitation the following:

Mommy has been overwhelmed with the generous amount of clothing gifts that she has received and since the boys can share clothes but cannot share other things she has requested that you consider purchasing one of the many non-clothing items on the registry.

I do not want to offend guests, but my friend is right...the boys cannot share high chairs or bouncy seats etc. Is it rude to say this or is there a better way to say it? I just do not want to be offensive.

Answer
Yes it's rude. Just don't include clothes on the gift registry and if she gets too many clothes she can always exchange them for something else or sell them on craigslist/ebay and use the money for something she needs. Telling people what to buy a person takes all the joy out of gifting.

TWIN SISTER as MAID OF HONOR?

fallinginl

I dislike my twin sister a lot at times. I'm getting married, and my mom expects me to have her as my maid of honor... but the thing is I just don't like her like that. Growing up with her was hell. When she was nice to me, I was a huge idiot, and told her everything and trusted her. As soon as we got in a fight, she used all she knew about me and threatened to tell my folks on me. And I was SUCH an idiot to keep doing this to her all the times. I ALWAYS TRUSTED HER, because I thought maybe she would change. When we were kids, I lost my Walkman, and she had a cd player [gift from an aunt] and her walkman that our folks bought us, and so she gave me her walkman. but every time we got in an argument she demanded it back, and threatened to tell my mother that i lost mine. she was always super bossy, and it hurt a lot. I'm not saying I was perfect or a saint or anything. I had my little moments, but I never ever wanted to hurt her the way she did to me. I just had this little hope that she would change :(( And she's so two faced. No one ever beliees the way she acts. Everyone thinks she's so quiet and sweet, and except for my immediate family, no one knows her real behavior. She stole all of my best friends I've had for years and tried to leave me out of their convos and stuff, and got mad if I talked to her friends. I know I seem jealous and to be honest, I was [AM!]. My mother wants her to be my maid of honor. But I was thinking of giving that title to one of my closest friends. But my mom is super mad and she said she won't come to the wedding unless my twin is the maid of honor. My mom never got along with her sister either, and my aunt became her maid of honor too. Apparently it looks bad. I don't know what to do!

Answer
This is your life too and you need to grow a backbone because over the course of your life you will find that people will bully others (you) into getting what they want. Now is the time to start being assertive. This wedding is for you and your intended. Hopefully he is the kind to stand by you which helps. Make the decision to pick someone YOU want and ask your fiance to back you up on it. Being a twin is not some automatic invitation to be the maid of honor. I bet anything you would not be chosen to be hers.
It is all a matter of having confidence in yourself. Do some reading on how to be assertive because it will help give you confidence and don't forget to ask your man to speak up for you if this becomes a problem. It is simple, your twin is not your best friend, someone else is. That is all you have to say.
