Mommy2baga

Ok, my husband and I wanted a baby long before we got married. I have a 3 year old girl, and he has a 3 year old boy. We've been married ten months and i'm 5 months pregnant. Problem is, daddy is so not involved in this. he goes to my doctors appts and all, but i want him to be active. help with the gift registry, planning the shower, choosing a name and picking out the baby stuff. What can i do to make this more interesting for him?

Answer
dont worry. guys dont give for baby showers and that stuff. but its normal for a guy to do that. they dont realize tht we are tugging around a huge watermelon for 9 months and our emotions are sky high.

How can I get my wife to give up our child?

Phil

My wife and I have been married for close to 15 years. We were high school sweeties. We tried for years to have children and suffered through 2 miscarriages. A few year ago we had success and welcomed a baby boy into the family.

We had all the proper prenatal care and blood tests, yet our child was born a retard (down syndrome). He is now 3 years old and honestly, I can't stand him. I wanted a normal child. Instead I have a son who can't talk, drools, and looks like about a thousand other kids (and why do these mongloids all look the same anyway?). I viewed the rest of my life as ball games and BBQs with our lovely child. Instead my life is trying to make sure he doesn't smear feces all over his damn bedroom walls.

My mother won't have anything to do with our grandchild and she recently gave me some really good advice based on her sister, who was retarded. Her family just gave her sister away to another family who must have been pretty hard up for a child.

I know I sound awful, but how can I convince my wife to give away our child? I work as a mid level executive for a large bank, so it's not like I can tell her we can't afford the kid. Plus, like my mom said, it really is her fault the kid turned out like this (she has some sort of uterus medical condition the doc told us, they were very surprised she got pregnant). This may bring up painful memories of my wife since I convinced her to have an abortion when we were 18. Well, I didn't really convince her, I kind of made her or I was going to tell her family (who are southern and very bigoted) she lost her virginity to a black man (another one of my moms good ideas, lol). We went to counseling and moved past that.

Help!

Answer
first of all i think your a poor excuse for a human. and actually it could be your fault he has downs. it is my dads fault my brother has downs. because my dad was an alcoholic it screwed his sperm up. and since i have seen the struggles of having a downs child i know you, sir, are not man enough to raise him. maybe if you just tell your wife how you feel she might leave you for someone whose man enough to raise a beautiful gift as a downs baby. you dont deserve that child any way.

Single moms of multiples, do you have any advice for me?

gift for single mom on ... , Art, Stories and Metal Art: Mothers Day Poems: Flowers for Mother
gift for single mom image
Q. I'm about to become a single mom to twin baby girls. I'm just looking for general advice on anything that helped you to survive. IE: items to buy, advice on diapers, wipes, formula, bottles. I would appreciate any helpful hints, tips or suggestions. Thanks.

Answer
I am the mother of twins. I would strongly recommend that you have everything ready early- crib put together, car seats installed, bags packed for the hospital, etc. As many times twins are not carried to term or if you are put on bedrest you do not want to have to rush to get everything done last minute. And even if you go closer to your due date you will not want to be huge and pregnant trying to get these things done! You really don't have to buy doubles of everything. My babies share a crib, they share toys, and being both boys they share clothes. The things I have found I DO need two of are two bouncing chairs- you can bounce both chairs with your foot while trying to grab a bite to eat! And when shopping for a stroller consider how and where you will be going with your babies. I got a really nice jogger- that will not fit through a standard size doorway. I would recommend finding a stroller that best meets your needs but check measurements before purchasing!! I would have a lot of 'newborn' size diapers on hand- I ended up donating a few that we were unable to use before my babies outgrew them but I did not have to worry about having to go on a diaper run with brand new babies.
If you can get your babies on the same sleeping and eating schedule it will save your sanity. It was tough in the beginning to get into a routine but it is worth your time to stick with it! I got a TON of helpful information from a book called 'Mothering Multiples' that is put out by La Leche League. The book talks a lot about breastfeeding multiples. I would really recommend breastfeeding as you can feed both babies at the same time. To help with tandem nursing in the beginning I had a 'Double Blessings' pillow that was specifically designed for breastfeeding twins.
I was given two 'Itzbeen' timers as gifts- they will allow you to track the time that has elapsed between diaper changes, feedings, sleeping, and medication. They also have the option for an alarm if a set amount of time has elapsed. I found these to be a lifesaver during the early weeks and so much easier than charting on paper for multiple babies!
The most important piece of advice I can give after having been there is to not hold too tightly to your expectations of how things will be once your babies come. Even labor and delivery were nothing like I had 'planned' in my mind. Take it one day at a time, ask for help, and accept help when it is offered! If someone is coming over for a visit have them pick up a pack of diapers or a gallon of milk on their way. Having a helping hand makes it much easier to enjoy the precious time with your babies instead of being overwhelmed :)
Congrats and all the best!

What stores are fashionable yet reasonably priced for professional women?

frustrated

I'm a single mom, but also a professional. I have a hard time finding stores that I like but are in my price range. I don't have a ton of patience to shop. I like the Fashion Bug and can sometimes find things at Kohl's. I'll shop Macy's but only with gift cards and sales, but I won't buy my clothes from Wal-Mart. Anyone know of any online stores that I can shop from?

Answer
Cato Fashions has really cute clothes at a reasonable price. T.J. Maxx, Belk, J.C. Penney, and Marshalls have cute clothes at affordable prices as well.

What should i give as a 1 year old bday gift?

my family is friends with another family, and a year ago they had twin girls. the babies 1 year old bday is coming up, and im really close to them, and plan on being in their life forever, so i would like to give them something. but what?
i dont have any money really, as im young.
suggestions?

Answer
If you don't have a lot of money and want something special then why not make them something?

It will be personal, appreciated and special.

One year old babies don't need a lot (my own son turned 1 last month). They don't tend to play with toys (they prefer the laptop mouse, TV remote, mum's keys, mobile phone and cat food bowl) so I would make something decorative and would suggest a salt dough ornament to hang on their bedroom wall.

You could make an angel:

I have a 3 year old and I am pregnant again! What do I do?

Young Mom

I am a mom to a three year old little girl and I just found out that I am pregnant again. I have been with my baby's father for four years now. We are engaged, and planning on getting married. I wanted to be married before having another baby but apparently that wasnt god's plan. I am very nervous that my three year old is going to feel neglected, and in some since I feel like I have let my daughter down. Any advice would help.

Answer
OK... First let me say that you haven't let your daughter down... I am an only child and am in my late 30's. I WISH that I had a brother or sister to share things with. I worry that once my parents are gone that I will feel awful because there won't be any one to recall memories from when I was growing up. I will feel very alone then even though I am married.

As for making your daughter feel involved, you can treat it the way we did (our son was almost 3 when our daughter was born). We bought books about being a big brother and read them as his bedtime stories. I took him to a couple of my doctor's appointments (when I knew they wouldn't be doing any internal exams) and let him listen to the baby's heartbeat. When the baby would kick I would let him feel my tummy and tell him that the baby was practicing to come play with him. My son helped to pick out baby clothes when we found out we were having a girl and he even decided her name (we had 2 names that we couldn't choose between and he got to pick from the two). He was very involved in the pregnancy and when the baby was born he was so excited. People were very thoughtful and when they came to visit at the hospital they made a point of congratulating him on being a big brother and brought a little gift for him too so he didn't feel leftout (some people brought something as simple as a sucker and he was happy!) Anyways, he is now a wonderful big brother and loves his baby sister and she absolutely ADORES him! The baby is now almost 11 months old and they love to play together! She follows him around the house and he reads her stories. We still make sure to each spend one on one time with both children so that they both feel special. I honestly feel that one of the best things that I have done for my son is to give him a sister.

Congratulations and good luck!

My sister and her baby are very important to me, so I want to get something for his 1st birthday present that my sister will think is amazing, and she would be very happy that I got it for them. I've thought of a rocking horse and a baby swing, but those are for older ages. I do now know much about babies, so what would be something really cool I could get him?

Answer
i think you should get him a blanket because babies like blankies , but your sister might not think its useful or give him a stuffed animal so he won't feel lonely if his mom leaves him:) or play with him for a day while enjoy talking to your sister:D i hope it helps a lot

Answer
He is definitely not too young for a swing. They have ones appropriate for ages 1-3 that look like a dolphin or an airplane, etc. They last a long time, as well- the one we got my now 12 year old daughter for her first birthday still looks new and is used by her 2 year old sister (and was used by her brother, as well, and we have another baby on the way that we expect will use it).

How about a wagon? All of my children have had wagons, and they grow so well with the child. Your nephew can enjoy wagon rides now, later he can pull it around himself and it is so convenient to take along on trips to the beach, park, etc.

At what week in pregnancy do you think it is appropriate to pack a bag for the hospital for yourself and baby?

Q. with my daughter i think i did it around like 20 weeks lol just because she was my 1st and i was so anxious and excited. now i'm not sure when i should have one ready? i am 27 weeks and 1 day. what do you think? when should i pack?

Answer
Well, you can always start getting things together, even if you don't start actually packing yet. :) I bought deodorant and mini shampoos for the hospital before I even started packing, and put them aside, because hospitals in Canada don't provide that stuff anymore and when labor starts I know I'll forget to pack the one I'm using. I also started putting aside some sleepers and stuff as I got them as gifts.

Really, you can start whenever you want! :) It took me a few weeks to think up everything I wanted (lollipops for labor, for instance, and a game of Uno for hubby and I to play, and slippers...I just opened a suitcase, put it on the bed in our spare room, and I keep going back and adding little things. I've been at it for weeks.)

It never hurts to be TOO prepared...I just kept thinking, if she comes early, I want everything to be in that bag! (We live 25 minutes away from our hospital so it's not like we can just run back home every 2 seconds.)

What would be considered international adoption?

I was born and raised in the United States, however I am now living and working in Canada. I'm pregnant. The dad is a Canadian citizen. I know a family back in the states that would like to adopt the baby, however I don't know if it would be considered an international adoption or not. Also, anyone know where I can get more information on this?

If it happens between two countries, then of course it's international.

Quotes taken from Nancy Verrier's book, Coming Home to Self
@ www.nancyverrier.com/self_book.php

For the adoptee every day is a challenge of trying to figure out how to be, although he probably doesn't understand the difficulty this presents for him. It has been true his whole life and, therefore, feels normal. However, it takes a great deal of energy and concentration. And it never feels quite right. He never quite fits. Therefore he feels as if /he/ is never quite right.
(pg 50)

Abandonment and neglect are reported to be the two most devastating experiences that children endure - even more devastating then sexual or physical abuse. That's why some neglected children do naughty things to get attention. Even though the attention is hurtful - being yelled at, hit, or otherwise harmed - it is better than neglect. /Anything/ is better than abandonment. Abandonment is a child's greatest fear. For adoptees, it is also reality, embedded in their implicit and unintegrated memory.
(pg 102)

It is sometimes difficult to spot grief in children. After all, it isn't as if the child sits in a puddle of tears his entire childhood. As one adoptee said, "Of course I played, laughed, sang. Do people think that if you're not sitting in a corner with your head on your knees, you are not sad? I had happy times, but the sadness was always there, even when I was having fun."
(pg 117)

My 5 year old son recently told me he's mad at me because I'm replacing him. It broke my heart to hear him say that. I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my daughter and I wanted to get him a gift from the baby to show him he's not being replaced. Only problem is I have no clue what.

Can anyone give me some ideas on what would be a good gift for big brother from baby sister?

Thanks!

Answer
be advised that consumerism is NOT sustainable

also a gift of material things can NOT replace
genuine concern and respect, he needs to know
that you are still concerned about him and you care.
don't smother him with material gifts, just give him
your genuine respect and he will know.

what is a good idea for a gift to big brother from baby sister?

Something that he could have always, with a dated engraved message from his sister, such as "I love my special big brother". Maybe a silver money box or a mug?

Received favors at an Indian baby shower, any meaning?

gifts for indian baby shower image

Joanie K

I just attended a baby shower for an Indian couple. At the end the mother-to-be gave me a bag of favors. I was wondering if there was any meaning or symbolism behind the gifts, they were:
-a banana
-a large leaf of some sort
-yellow snack mix
-a silver coin in a pouch (not sure if it's a rupee or not)
-two pieces of sweet stuff/dessert
-some sort of a crushed up nut, very hard and not eatable, I tried :)

Thank you to anyone that answers!
One additional note, it was a Hindu Indian couple.

Answer
haha, ya it may sound a bit weird to you, getting a bag of fruits. In India, almost any major event requires a religious ceremony(which is called a pooja). In a pooja, the priest asks hindu gods to give luck, prosperity, etc. to whatever the ceremony is for. The food you got is kinda like 'blessed food/gifts'. The leaf is probably a betel leaf(throw it out), the snack mix is good (its called chaat, it might be a bit spicy for u), The silver coin is a rupee if it has a lion statue on it. I know all this must sound pretty wierd, but i hoped it helped

Godh Bharai/Bharna Indian baby shower, how to needed?

Toi

Hi, I am pregnant and would like to have the Hindu ceremony godh bharai done. The problem is I don't have any living relatives to do it and I have no idea how to do it myself. Can someone please let me know step by step what is needed and how to do it. Thanks

Answer
Hey there

Godh Bharai (usually held in the 7th month of the pregnancy and you also have to make sure it is in a auspicious time) differs from state to state in India, but I can tell you how it is done in ours:-

p.s: since you dont have ur relatives here, you can ask you hubby, cousins (who might live nearby) or some close friend of yours to do the same

1. It is usually done by the girls parents or someone related to girls side

2. Girl is given saree / choli / indian dress (usually very ethinic and expenssive but depends on what the parents can afford), and the girl has to wear that saree on the Godh Bharai day

3. Girls parents will get a lot of bangles (usually glass ones) and dispaly it, along with variety of fruits (esp banana), sweets, food, haldi (wet) and kumum

3. Relatives and friends are called for this event - parents start putting the haldi in the girls forehead more like a bindi, then apply it on her cheeks, hands and leg and then place the kumum on the forhead and starts putting the bangles for the girl, and the same step is repeated by close relatives and friends, and girl is made to eat a lil bit of all the food cooked for her, and then the relatives and friends as they do this ritual place the gifts on the girls lap or near her feet

Other things to make it fun and lil more twist:-

1. you can have mehandi done in your hand and feet
2. you can arrange for games
3. you can have bangles, haldi, kumum in small packets and give them to all the women who attend the function
4. you can also have a mehandi booth for the kids and women who would be attending the function

And btw congrats and have a blessed and fun pregnancy!

I am really low on money and I didn't realize but I have to go to a baby shower on Sunday. I am gonna have my mom crochett some booties and maybe a hat if she has time. But what else can I make. I am pretty crafty and I have a bunch of scrapbook stuff that I could use to make somthing. I don't have the time to make something really large and extravagant, but I could make something pretty cute. Any Idea's? It is for a boy.

Answer
try the dollar tree for some cheap baby stuff...for only a dollar. By the way for my baby shower, a lot of my family members didn't bring anything, but I didn't care much because being there was enough, plus, there is always birthdays and holidays to give more gifts. Times are tough, if you cant afford it, you cant afford it.

How do you word on a baby shower invitation that the new mom to be has requested gift cards?

She is having her 2nd daughter and already has an overload of EVERYTHING!! Too many clothes, all nursery supplies, blankets, diaper bags, car seats, strollers, you think of it she already owns it.. For her baby shower she only wants gift cards causing it less of a headache returning gifts.. She only needs the essentials like diapers wipes ect.. Stay at home mom and would only like gift cards to use when needed to buy supplies when they run out.. Ect.. How do you out that on an invite??????

You should give the baby your warm wishes and give a memorable gift so that it remains forever with the baby.

Should we have a baby shower?

I am expecting my 4th child. We had a baby shower 6 years ago for my daughter but did not have one for either of my 2 sons. I know no one is going to throw me one. No one offered with my boys so we never had one. Gifts are not the motivation and I intend on asking for no gifts because I don't feel it is appropriate when you have several children. I just want to have everyone together. Is it terrible to throw your own shower?

Answer
I agree, it is tacky to throw your own shower. Especially for your 4th kid.

If you want to get everyone together, try a diaper party. You provide the booze and everyone brings a package of diapers. Or do a gender reveal party. If people want to give gifts, they will regardless. But if you call it a baby shower, they are going to feel like they have to.

Congrats BTW!

Got invited to a gender party this saturday what do we wear n what do we bring?

Chiki

They explained the party will be where they will reveal the gender of their baby (the couple, the girl is pregnant). We have never been to this kind of party and were a bit confused if we should bring a gift for her/for the baby? Also we are unsure what to wear? Anyone been to one of these before? Please advise? Lol thanks

Answer
wear like a nice blouse and nice pants.. not TOO dressy... just nice spring clothing

What's a good spending limit for Christmas presents for a 15 year old girl!?

shealynn

I'm asking for two reasons.....so I'm 15 and I am confused how much I should ask for and how much I should spend for other people. I was gonna get my mom dad and brother and dog (lol) each a gift. Around how much should I spend for each person? I know....I shouldn't worry as much about the price as I should the thought I put into the gift. But I really don't have a clue as to how much people spend on gifts! Or Doyou have a good idea of gifts i could make them for little money? Idk what I could make my 13 year old brother that he would like...I can't really make video games from scratch:)

Also, I'm not sure how much I should ask for. My parents ask us for Christmas lists around the beginning of December because they have no idea what we want. I was planning on asking for the following:
1. EITHER a jack wills hoodie ($89) OR lululemon scuba jacket (~$80-90) (I kinda need jackets so maybe they'll get both but I don't expect both or really any for that matter)
2. Pink sugar perfume from nordstroms (ranges from $30-50)
3. Nice pair of leather boots (havnt found an exact pair yet but they're around $60-100+ probably)
4. MAYBE One direction shirt from website with up all night album cover on it:):):) (around $20-30)
5. underwear:)

So is that too much to ask for? There are some other things I was thinking of asking for , like belts that fit and more jackets because I'm freezing here in my short sleeves shirts haha... But those are the things I realt wanted. Is that too much?

Answer
My parents always buy me one major gift, one year we went to disneyworld, another year I got a Wii, last year I got an iPod touch, this year I'm asking for a Galaxy S III, of course I get other presents along with that major gift. But what you've asked for seems perfectly normal for a teenage girl. Things you could do is: buy your brother a gift(if you can't think of something to make him) and make something for your parents, they prefer sentimental gifts that are handmade, trust me. I've had past experience. It's fairly easy to make stuff for them, because no matter what it is they'll live it. Possibly even put it to good use, you could go to a craft store and get some fabric and, if you have a sewing machine, see it into an apron for your mother. Another thing, most craft stores have this stuff called polymer clay, you shape it like clay, paint it, attach an eyepin(google it if you don't know what it is) and bake it. Then you paint it and attach it to a necklace, they're really cute and fun to make. Try that. Search on YouTube for tutorials. As for your father, I'd say get him something he will use for a long time. Tool set if he's into that stuff, new boots(unless they're too costly), or something along those lines. I think it's hard shopping for boys because I'm a girl. Find out what he likes. Finally, your dog won't care what you get him. Anything he can chew on.

I am in the military and won't be home for Christmas what do you think are some good gift ideas for a mom?

Answer
You should buy something local. Not only does it help the place you are currently resting your head and bring goodwill, it will be something no other moms will get.

Take a picture of you buying it from a local merchant and include a note. It won't get there in time, but you will get the picture of you buying it there in time for sure.

Moms with sons in danger are extremely sentimental.

Merry Christmas!

What are good Christmas presents for my family?

Q. I need gift ideas for my mom, dad, and 17 year old sister. Nothing too expensive, I don't want to get my sister clothes either. I especially need ideas for my dad! Thanks!

Answer
These are PERFECT -- I bought them for my family a few years ago and they have asked for them each year since. They are cute, unique useful and more importantly AFFORDABLE! They are having a sale for the holidays.

I have also given them to friends, coworkers and used them for secret santas. Here is the website:

El pond

She will be 1 year old in July and I will be her God Father in April. What is a good gift?

Answer
Do not buy a baby jewelry. She will neither appreciate or be able to play with it. At this age, their mind is like a sponge, but you also want something fun for her. Go to www.walmart.com & search under infant learning toys. I have found the "Vtech" toys to be fun & educational for infants. Every baby over 1, I have ever known, has loved the "Fridge Magnets" It's a toy that goes on the fridge, they push the buttons, & learn their alphabet & numbers. It sings & talks & it's about $20. Now, as her Godfather, you should also purchase something for her future. So, get her a savings bond or a share. That way, you are pleasing her now with a toy she will love, & later, when she's older, she will know how much she meant to you her whole life. The fact that you would think of her future, will mean alot to her later on, too. Good Luck!

What is a good gift to get for a 1 year old girl for christmas?

Brittany H

I am going christmas shopping tomorrow, and I am very clueless what i should get for this little girl. It is so hard to shop for children under 3. Any suggestions?

Answer
One year olds can walk, so push along or pull along toys are great. Ball.

They are learning to use objects for a purpose and like to copy what people do, so...
toy telephone, very simple jigsaws, a small bag to put things in and take things out of, stacking toys, blocks, toddler musical instruments...
Anything with buttons to press, levers to flick

story books (can be nice to get a book to hold and chew but then also a nice one for the book shelf to keep until older),

paints/baby paint apron

Happy shopping x

Is there a California Law that prohibits returning unopened infant formula to retailers?

email.mich

I wanted to return some baby formula I purchased from Walmart, but they lady there told me that I could not and there was a California law. What law? I'm pretty sure I've returned formula to Costco before.

Answer
u cant in arizona its because you could have poke it with a needle thats what i was told but i think because people purchase it with WIC or food stamps and then try to return it for cash or gift card. i had 9 cans of formula from WIC and then the doctor changed her to soy and the store would not exchange them so gave them back to WIC but didnt get new vouchers or anything until a month or two later.

What were the 3 gifts the Magi brought to baby Jesus?

CAMILLE

Who were the Magi?

Answer
Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Matthew 2:11 (Amplified Bible)
11And on going into the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then opening their treasure bags, they presented to Him gifts--gold and frankincense and myrrh.
"Who Were the Magi?

By Chuck Missler

Each year, as we approach the holiday season, our preparations for Christmas include revisiting the events surrounding the birth of Our Lord. Bethlehem, (1) the shepherds, and the angels are familiar to us all. But not much is generally known about the mysterious "Magi" who came to worship the infant Jesus. The following background may be helpful to stimulate conversations around the fireplace as our thoughts turn to this incredible event from which we measure our very calendar.

Traditions
Most of what we associate with the "Magi" is from early church traditions. Most have assumed there were three of them, since they brought three specific gifts (but the Biblical text doesn't number them). They are called "Magi" from the Latinized form of the Greek word magoi, transliterated from the Persian, for a select sect of priests. (Our word "magic" comes from the same root.)
As the years passed, the traditions became increasingly embellished. By the 3rd century they were viewed as kings. By the 6th century they had names: Bithisarea, Melichior, and Gathaspa. Some even associated them with Shem, Ham and Japheth--the three sons of Noah--and thus with Asia, Africa, and Europe. A 141h century Armenian tradition identifies them as Balthasar, King of Arabia; Melchior, King of Persia; and Gasper, King of India.
(Relics attributed to them emerged in the 4th century and were transferred from Constantinople to Milan in the 5th century, and then to Cologne in 1162 where they remain enshrined.)
These are interesting traditions, but what do we really know about them?

Im attending a baby naming cermony for my sister's daughter. My mother and i were wondering if we should bring a gift and what would be an appropriate gift to give. Thanks for your help!!

Answer
It doesn't have to be anything special. If youre getting a gift it should be for the baby maybe a cute outfit or somethign the baby may use. But it's just a baby naming and when I've attended we've never given anything in particular.

How much did your body change after giving birth?

I'm not pregnant yet but I was wondering what happens to your body when you get pregnant and give birth. My friends who had babies complained so much and said things to me that made me so worried such as, your nipples get huge and stay huge, your stretch marks are there for lie, nothing takes them out, you gain so much weight that you cant lose, your breasts sag. I just wanna know what really happens and if there are anyways to avoid getting stretch marks. How do your husbands and boyfriends feel about the change? are they supportive?

Answer
You do gain weight, your nipples do change, you may get stretch marks based on genetics and weight gain, and your breasts are different. But guess what? you get a beautiful baby and the gift of parenting. You get to be a mom! Its worth all of it. You can lose the weight! You can get a sexy push up bra! and you can find different creams that may help reduce the appearance of the stretch marks, and guess what with time they do fade! And if your husband or significant other truly loves you, he will embrace your new body and still find you as sexy as ever!

What would a newborn mom want right after she has the baby?

My hubby a

I work for a state medical insurance, and we are trying to figure out what we can give to newborn moms we are giving the newborns baby stuff and a gift card for baby's r us, but what about the moms what are some ideas to give them? Bath robe, slippers, nice lotions, candles etc? Something to make them feel good and not forgotten with the newborn and all?
The majority of these women are low income moms thats why they are on state medicaid programs

Answer
You are talking about buying this stuff using my tax dollars? I work for a living and ended up with a $3000 hospital bill (insurance only paid a portion) and what did my state buy me? NOTHING.

Why is tax money being wasted on presents? We just gave her the "present" of a baby & pregnancy that she didn't have to pay for.

Why is it that I get to work harder, take more jobs, can't afford to have another baby, yet if I would only stop working and leave my husband, I could get a day at the spa. I sure as heck can't afford it now.

If it is my tax money, then I say buy her birth control and parenting classes so I don't end up paying for her kid to have kids they can't afford either.

What crap. When are we going to stop REWARDING people who make bad choices? WHEN?

How do I ask for just clothes and diapers for a baby shower?

I am having a baby shower for girl but I am not registering anywhere. All I need are clothes and diapers. How do ask for clothes and diapers on the invitation?

Answer
My sister-in-law's invitation said to bring a pack of diapers to be entered into a raffle...

It was a really nice way of saying we want diapers, but not forcing people to buy them. I think the winner got like a $25 gift card to Carrabba's, which is nothing compared to what she received in diapers.

You could do the same type of thing with baby clothes. Have a cutest baby outfit contest. In your invite, you could say something like, "Bring an outfit for "baby's Name" to be entered into the Cutest Outfit Contest!" Again, you're indirectly asking for what you want without seeming overbearing.

Hope that helps!

i need to get a baby shower gift for my friends. they are having a girl. i can't spend a lot because i'm only 17. my job don't start until fall. so i'm limited on money. what are some good but not real expensive gifts for a baby girl? if it matters this is the first baby they are having.

Answer
Don't worry about spending a lot of money; no one expects you to be a millionaire! A cute outfit would be appreciated--you have no idea how many clothes a baby goes through in a day, between what comes out of its mouth and what comes out of its butt! Go to your local Kmart or similar store and pick out a cute outfit from the baby section--you can also buy a set of bibs (day of the week is cute) or onesies.

My favorite baby gift is a nice bib or set of bibs, and I write on the card, "Life's messy. Wear a bib."
