Trying to buy gift online to send to oz?

Kandle

Please can someone tell me a website that allows you to send new baby gifts to oz from the uk? I already tried amazon
Thx

Answer
Try an Australian baby shop, the sites usually have '.com.au' as their domain name and most will let you buy from an overseas account to have it shipped somewhere in Australia.

If you use http://www.google.com.au/ it will let you select for Australian websites ONLY so a search for the gift you are looking at buying will give you a list of shops that ship to Australia that stock the item.

Gift ideas for a stressed out mom?

Alex Z

My mom has been crying for the past 2-3 weeks because we recently moved in to a new house but there's lots of problems in it like leaks, and cracks, and big problems. She's been really stressed out and i dont know what to give her for christmas!!! i want to give her something stress-relieving. something that will bring a smile to her face. PLEASE HELP!

Answer
mom's love it when their kids write and tell them how much they love or admire them, and I don't mean just signing a card that say's I love you mom. write it like you would a school essay, what you admire and love about her, and give it to her with a little gift like a necklace or a braclet, she will love it and cherish it. forever.

what should I get my mom for mother's day?

Q. Okay so my mom is really stressed out and I'm not sure what I should get her..I was thinking something like a day at the spa? She's one of those types of moms that likes to feel "relaxed" what should I get her?

Answer
My mom likes to cook so I went to Fresh Market and got her some unique ingredients to make up recipes. Does she have a hobby? You can never go wrong with a massage gift certificate.

Baby Shower gifts? for father?

Robert

My best buddy that Ive known since junior high - 9 years now - is having a baby. He invited me to his baby shower, I dont know what to get him and his wife. My gf was thinking about getting them a diaper bag and stuff it with items, I wanna get something un-expected, and humorous. Maybe something they will use for a long time, I dont know... no diaper cakes please. Thanks in advance.

Answer
As a mother who had a baby shower, and then a baby... I GREATLY appreciated all the things we were actually going to USE. Such as diapers, diapers, diapers. And clothes too! I didn't so much appreciate receiving newborn sizes as I did sizes 0-3 months because my son was already 8lbs 4oz at birth and barely fit into "newborn".

Also regular baby blankets and receiving blankets were a handy gift that I used OFTEN. And still do. Your girlfriend's idea of a diaper bag stuffed with items is a really good idea!

Baby shower?

Alibigirl

My son and his wife are expecting in January and live 8 hours away. I want to do an absentee baby shower then take the gifts to them at the shower they will have in their hometown in a couple months. How should my invitations be worded to not sound tacky. They are unable to come home to do a shower due to not being able to get time off. I want to do something nice for them.

Answer
do online Baby shower send web camera

Please suggest the best gift i can present to a new born baby girl in India?

dinesh k

Answer
Diaper....lots and lots of diaper of different size ranges and wipes. You can never have too many. Clothes but not too many cause they grow quickly. Whiles it's a new born they don't really require too much. Just to be kept warm and feed. When they get older you start to need teether and highchairs and toys. Newborns normal are gifts like keep sakes, memory book and photo album which are not really for the child.

HELP...I need help finding a proper gift for baby?

Cindy Masc

I have just met my new Indian (from India) neighbors who have a 6 week old baby. I want to give them something special for their new addition. Is there an appropriate gift to give them? Maybe something just for the mother? Is that ok to do something just for the mom or do I have to give each family member a gift? Please give me some advice or guide me where I could find information for the family.

Answer
I don't think that you need to give the whole family something. But giving something to the mom or the baby would be really nice. I'll bet she'd love it if you invited her over for lunch or coffee or something. You could take her a flowering plant to put in her yard. A rose bush to commemorate her new baby, etc. Or you could take her a set of bath oils and tell her you'll watch the baby for a while while she gets to bathe and take a nap. I'm sure anything you come up with will be appreciated. I think that your thoughtfulness is going to reward you with a new friendship.

Baby Shower Moms to Be - Gifts - What would you rather?

J & R Sequ

Would you rather rec'v cash, gift card or baby clothes/diapers etc.
I had a few in the past and was happy with either. I rec'd was too many < 12 mos. clothing I didn't even get a chance to use. Way too many pacifiers and bibs too. It is a 40yr old first time mom, what would you suggest? I am way out in the country so limited to the stores, I have a grocery and a drug store.

Answer
With twins, I was thankful for whatever we received . . . even hand-me-downs! As to what was most useful, gift cards!!! The gift cards were great! The problem with cash is that it is so easy to blow it on something else - like groceries (I know you need them but it is not "really" for the baby as much) . . . the gift cards are great for the things that you did not receive at your shower, what you suddenly realize that you need etc . . .

Best wishes!

Moms! Which baby blanket should I give as a gift ?

benzgirl

A friend of mine just had a baby girl and I'm torn between the two blankets, she is 25. Thank you so much for your time!

Barefoot Dreams: (pink or brown)
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2905201/0~2379292~2379293~6008493~6008505?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6008505&P=1

or.....

Little Giraffe

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2887501/0~2379292~2379293~6008493~6008505?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6008505&P=1
P.S.
The Barefoot Dreams blanket has a very cute little saying on it but the Little Giraffe one is softer yet plain.

Answer
Honestly, I got some blankets like that as gifts for my baby and I find them to be completely useless. You can't put them in the crib, they are too thick for swaddling, they are kind of small to put on the floor for the baby to lay on (that's the only real use I found for them, other than decorative). If I was buying the gift, I would want to buy something useful like a soft carrier/sling (http://www.mobywrap.com/), a breastfeeding kit (http://www.nursingmothersupplies.com/html/breastfeedingkits.htm) or pillow (http://www.mybrestfriend.com/), an activity gym (http://www.tinylove.com/toy.aspx?toyId=32) or a Halo Sleep Sack (https://www.halosleep.com/). Sorry, I know that's not the question that you asked, but I just thought you might want a mother's opinion.

Swaddle blankets are also a very good idea. Maybe you could find some that would be very cute too. http://www.swaddledesigns.com/products.html

Baby shower.....what?

taryntino

I will have to throw a baby shower for a good friend of mine some months from now. I've never been to one and I know nothing about them. Someone told me there were games involved.
I'm looking for a clear idea of what its about. What will people expect me to do? I assume drinking is inappropriate, right? Help me out, Im not much for planning social events and I am definately not a baby person.
She's a good friend and I really want to make this not lame for her.

Answer
Okay, baby showers. Yes they are mostly about the games. That and the gifts. Everyone brings a gift for the baby. You go and drink punch and have little snacks.. like any reception type thing. Then you play these games that have to deal with babies. There are little gifts and prizes for those who win(small little things for a girl... becuase only girls come to baby showers.. such as little lotions, maybe decorated box, perfume.. that type of thing.) Games that i have seen done are:

The Word Game: First, everyone has a little token. Whether it be a litle plastic wring, a sticker, a little tiny plastic pacifier on a necklace.. doesnt matter. The goal of the game is not to say the word "baby" (or whatever word you pick) for the whole shower.. which is kinda fun. But when someone hears you say the word, they get to take your token. Then at the end of hte shower, whoever has the most tokens, wins.

The Baby Food Tester: For this game you need to go out and buy little jars of baby food. Probably the ones that only have one thing in them. Not the meals. You will take them either out of the jars, or take off the labels, so that people dont know what they are. Everyone will sit in a circle and try to figure out which flavors each one is.. whether by tasting it(you might need little sample spoons or something), smelling it, or just looking. Whatever. Whoever has the most correct wins.

The Diaper Game : haha. i loved this one, but all of my sisters thought it was disgusting. But what it is, you need soem diapers, all different kinds of chocolate bars and a microwave. Haha, you smush up the candy bar in the diaper.. melt it a little and everything, make it look authentic. lol... and then everyone takes turns smelling it or looking at it and trying to figure out what type of bar it is.. use snickers, and milky ways, and take 5 and whatevaer other kind of chocolate bar. This is hilarious. Some people refuse to put their noses up to it. Anyway, whoever has the most right, wins.

The Bottle Game: Youll need bottles and some kind of juice. For this one you will give everyone who wants to do it a bottle half full or less (cuz this takes FOREVER if you do more) and have them race to see who can finish off the bottle fastest. Only drinking from it.

The Belly Guesser: you have everyone try to figure out how many squares of toilet paper it would take to get around the pregnant ladies belly. This one is funny becuase EVERYONE guess to low. .. they dont want any hurt feelings. lol. But yeah, you actually do it to her afterwards, and whoever is the closest wins.

How Many in the Jar: You put a bunch of whatever in a jar(maybe diaper pins, pacifiers, something babyish) and have everyone guess how many there are. Once again, whoever is closest wins.

Okay, so those are just some of the games that i remember. But you dont have to use all of them. A baby shower isnt supposed to have a BUNCH of games over and over agian. You mostly just sit around, chilling out and snacking, everyone talking.. and then you play a coupel games in between.. some people will say that they dont want to play, and thats fine.

Then after that you will spend a long time opening all the gifts and oohing and aahhing with each other. Their pretty much just socializing.

One little tip though, get more than one prize for each game you decide to play.. becuase there is a definite posibility for ties. Just in case, you know?

Alrighty, well i just wrote ALOT and i hope that it helped you. If you need anymore help planning the shower i would love to give more advice. You can go ahead and email me over this. And good luck!

*edit*
Oh, and i was looking at that website and i forgot about one.. This one is super super awesome. That baby book idea. You have a book that each person who comes can write some kind of advice on there. Its a great thing for a new mom. Especially when there are older more knowing guests there, such as friends of the mom or something.

A question about registering for gifts for baby showers?

Someonesmo

How many places should I register? What type of things does one register for? How many items should I register for? Do I register for the bigger price items too? When I had my first baby 7 years ago, I was a older teen mom and I did it all on my own with either hand me downs or garage sale stuff. Now that I am having one the right way (being married and all that jazz), my family and friends are having a shower and suggesting that I register. My family says one thing, but I thinking another. Please help settle the debate.... THANKS!

Answer
Try to view some examples of photomosaic posters which you may create as a Gift. You may create the portrait which will contain images with flowers for example (or other favors: hurts, cats, nice places etc.). Year ago a create the photomosaic poster with parents portrait. I Use the base with flowers and my mom was very happy to see her flower portrait :)
I create it using software from Artensoft.

Twins: Does anyone have advice for an expecting twins mom and dad?

Rosey G

Suggestions for anything and everything will be appreciated. The twins are one boy and one girl.

Thank you in advance.

Answer
My aunt had twins. It was tough but the boys are now 10 years old and amazing kids!! Main thing-be honest with each other. If you are tired-tell your spouse. If you are stressed-do not take it out on the children. Take it out on the laundry. :) Help each other-If mom was home all day with the twins-dad should tell mom to go enjoy a glass of wine while he takes care of the twins.
ACCEPT ALL HELP OFFERED TO YOU!!!
My mom and my great grandma flew to Florida to help my aunt and uncle with the twins and my aunt and uncle said that was the best gift anyone could have given.

I'm not trying to scare you. Children are a blessing.

What do u think would make a good christmas gift??

NeverEverS

I need help to find a great gift. Any ideas?

Answer
Hmmm, well I personally like homemade gifts because I know that they took time. And time is always a great gift. Since you weren't all too specific I'll just put a ton of ideas out there.
For Men: If they are athletic a gift card to a sports store like Scheels is perfect. Or a handyman sort of guy how about an organizer for all the tools. Or even some more nice tools. If he is more intelectual, maybe a brain teaser book, or a Sudoku, or a book by his favourite author. A computer geek? How about a flash drive or decorate a mousepad for him.
For Women: If she is the soccer-mom offer one of your Saturdays to take her place and let her go shopping. A cooker, new cooking pan or cookie sheet. Or even you could make a can with all the ingrediants for her favourite kinda of cookie. Lotion, journals, and candles are always good too. And they can always not just be bought but personalized with decopauge or other things.
For Children: if you can quilt that would be a great gift for a child. They may just put it on their bed now when they are young but when they get older they will treasure it. If you can't quilt (like me) then get them a coin bank so that they can save up for whatever toy they wish.
Teens: I am a teen girl so have more ideas for that category than guys. For girls I would suggest notebooks or journals. If she doesn't journal then still get her one because it is a great thing to start. Gas gift cards is perfect for a guy or girl. Girls would also enjoy nail polish or body wash, cute pajama bottoms, or a purse. If they are athletic, possibly a gift card to a local sports store, or tickets to a game. Or if they play tennis, a tennis racket, ect. For guys if they are athletic do the same as you would for a girl. I really don't know what else they would like. Food. All guys like food.

I hope that I have given you some ideas. And, if worse comes to worse don't forget about gift cards!

Is the Chrysler Pacifica a mom car?

IDream17

My dad is thinking about buying my uncle's Pacifica. It would more than likely be my car (as a grad gift) and I'm a senior in high school. Is too much of a soccer mom car?

Answer
for a 7 passenger car, the pacifica is among the coolest looking out there.
it's not a minivan which makes it much cooler than other cars. now if you are worried about having a soccer mom car, all that changes in college. if you can take more friends with you in your car, you have the better car. don't worry about being judged because all that stuff is just in high school. in college and just life in general you'll find that people are much less judgmental than you may think. there are going to be people with cooler stuff and people with less cool stuff there's nothing wrong with that.

Non-generic Christmas gifts?

MinnieMous

I'm looking for non-generic, creative, fun, unique Christmas gifts to give this year. If you have any good ideas, or have given or received any really great gifts, please help me! These are the people I need to get for.. I've included a little bit of information about them too.

Mom: Someone who basically has everything already. She is going on a cruise in February so one of my ideas was to get her a cute travel bag and fill it with beachy items, travel things, etc... But I would like some other ideas.

Dad: Active, sporty, outdoorsy. Loves fishing, hunting, softball, kick boxing. Like clothes and power tools.

Sister (18): Clothes, shoes, accessories, unique cute things. Plays softball and is a nursing major.

Co-worker, boss- both love dogs, would like to get both similar items that are dog-related. Limit $10

White elephant- limit $20, unisex gift

I would appreciate ideas for any or all of these people!
Thanks :)
Oh, and my step-mom! She isn't really interested in a whole lot, doesn't care about name brands, very picky.

Birthday gifts for moms?

My husband and I always buy our moms a gift for their birthdays. My mom always asks for a small item...less than 30 dollars. She knows that we have bills and doesn't want us spending our money on her. When it comes to my mother in law, my husband feels that he has to spend 100 dollars. We just had a fight about how much to spend on his mother and I knocked it down from 100 to 50 dollars (which in my mind, is still too much). I feel that my husband has to make up for him never seeing her and thus wanting to spend 100 dollars. I am also bitter with this woman because she never ever recognizes my birthday...but expects everyone to recognize hers. She never says to us...you shouldn't spend that kind of money on me...you just bought a house...or anything like that.
Is it wrong for me to argue with my husband about a gift for his mom or am I right?

Answer
I think the best solution should be is you and your husband sit down and decide a dollar amount that you two can afford to spend on each person at their birthday and that is the amount you spend. His mother shouldn't get a higher dollar amount than anyone else. Nip this in the butt so that you two do not keep arguing over it because it is going to be something that comes up every year at her birthday time. If he wishes to go over the dollar amount you two come up with as set birthday dollar amount for all birthdays then he can save some of his own money on the side to accommodate a lavish give to give his mother if he chooses to do so. It is rude that your MIL does not recognize your birthday but do not stoop to her level. Be the better person and give a modest gift to her at her birthday. Most mothers are like your own mother and do not expect outrageous gifts. It sounds like your MIL is somewhat selfish anyway and that is something you cannot change in her.

Good luck!

Baby Shower Games and Ideas....?

Mommy of 2

I am having a baby shower at the end of this month.. My mom has no idea what kind of games to play or what all we can do there...

Here is some info........

We are having girl.
This is our second child.
We have a 2 year old boy.
The party is a cookout/shower and men and as well as women and children are gonna be there.. But the kids are already taken care of.

What kinds of games can everyone play?
What kinds can just the women play?
What can the men alone do?
What all should we have at the shower?

We have cake, streamers, plates, napkins, cups, the food for the cookout, and balloons. What else do we need to do or get???

I didn't want a shower in the first place, but my mom insisted because this will be our last child, and I didn't have one the first time.. But really none of us know what we are doing, and I have only been to one shower, my mother hasn't been to any. It was her idea but somehow I got stuck helping... lol.. but that's ok..... :)

Thanks!!!

Answer
you might want to get gifts to your guest that win the games 1. How fast can you drink from a baby bottle?

Think it's easy? This game is a lot harder than it looks. Take four or five volunteers from the party. Fill four or five 4 oz. baby bottles about a quarter full with juice or water. Hand each one of the contestants a bottle, and say drink. Who ever finishes the bottle first wins!

2. How big is Mom's belly?

This game involves the whole party. Ask guests to tear toilet paper off a roll that they think will match closest to the size of the mother-to-be's stomach, if it were wrapped around her. The one who tears of the right length or closest, wins.

3. Dirty Diapers?(Baby Shower Game Pick)

Take a napkin (one per guest), fold the napkins resembling a diaper and secure with a diaper pin. Attach the "diaper" to the bottom of each guests seat in advance. Place mustard or chocolate in one. Have everyone at some point during the party reach under their chairs. The one with the "dirty" diaper wins a prize.

4. Can you guess the baby food?

This free game involves getting five different kinds of baby food. Take the labels off the jars and mark the bottom of the jar with a number 1-5. Set them down in an area where guests can examine and smell them. Have everybody write down what type of baby food they think is in each jar. The guest with the most correct answers wins this baby game.

5. Guess what baby items are in the bag?

Place 10- 15 commonly used baby items in a large paper bag. Give each guest a pen and a sheet of paper. Let each guest stick their hand in the bag, touching the items, without looking. After each guest has had their turn, let them write down as many items as they can remember on their sheet of paper. The guest with the most correct answers wins!

I need a poem that includes gifts for a mom to be that already has one kid to be given at her baby shower?

Kristie S

I have seen poems that incorporate products/presents (such as Snuggle, Parents magazine, Kisses *hershey*, ect) for a NEW mom, but my sis is having her second child and i love that idea and i am not in the least bit poetic, but i would love to read her a poem and give her gift and things she needs for baby number 2!!! Any ideas?? If you are confused let me know.......
This is an example of what im looking for:

What to Expect the First Year

Here are some ideas for the [Parents (magazine)] - to - be
The [formula] for nurturing your sweet new baby
The [light (night light)] of your lives, your baby's nearly here
Soon you both* can [Snuggle (fabric softener)] and hold your baby near
Those first sweet cries will be [music (cassette tape of lullabyes)] to your ears
Hold your wee one close, tell your baby ["No More Tears" (Johnson's Baby Shampoo)]
To [bond (savings bond; Gold Bond baby powder)] with your new baby, every day and every night
The [keys (baby teething keys)] are love and kindness, soft touches are just right
You can [Pamper (Pampers diapers)] your new bundle, who needs to feel secure.....

Then i would buy each of the items in parenthsies and hold them up as i read her the poem...So what i need is a poem like that one but for a mom of a 2nd kid, not a "new" mom...she already has one child! THANKS!!

Babies are Angels that fly to the earth,

their wings disappear at the time of their birth

one look in their eyes and we're never the same

They're part of us now and that part has a name

That part is your heart and a bond that won't sever

our Babies are Angels, we love them forever.

~Unknown~

Two tiny feet
That wave in the air
Two tiny hands
That tug at your hair
Cute bottom for patting
Adorable face
A bundle of joy
To love and embrace

Precious one,
So small,
So sweet

Dancing in
on angel feet
Straight from Heaven's
brightest star

What a miracle
you are!

When a baby enters this world,
into your life
A baby can make you forget your
worries and strife.
It really doesn't matter whether
it's a girl or a boy
A baby will melt your heart and bring you joy!
So shower a baby with love,
every single day.
Show a baby you truly care-
there's so many ways.
For with a blink of an eye, time
will fly out the door-
and your precious baby, won't
be a baby anymore!!

Welcome New Baby Poems - A Prayer for my cute baby to God

Little baby on the way,
Getting bigger every day,
Kicking mommy here and there,
God please listen to our prayer.

Keep our baby safe and strong,
Let his time with us be long,
Help us teach him right form wrong,
And we shall praise thee all day long.

This little on, though not yet here,
Is loved so much, has grown quite dear.
Delivery time is growing near,
That's why we pray our plea you'll hear.

Please help up Lord, we pray to Thee
With thankful heart, on bended knee,
To raise this child that he might be,
A happy child because of me.

New Baby Poems : A Baby is a Miracle

This little tiny baby
Was sent from God above
To fill our hearts with happiness
And touch our lives with love
He must have known
We'd give our all
And always do our best
To give our precious baby love
And be grateful and so blessed

FINGERPRINTS.

Sometimes you get discouraged,
because I am so small
And leave my little fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
And soon will be so tall
That all these little fingerprints
Will be difficult to recall.
So here's a little handprint
That you can put away
So you will know how my fingers looked
On this special day.

I dreamed of writing
the masterpiece
I longed to paint.
You are the shining star
I reached for In my
ever hopeful quest
for life fulfilled..
You are my child.
Now with all things
I am blessed.

IF A CHILD....

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.

The Sweetest Gift

One day a mother went to a prison
To see an erring but precious son.
She told the warden how much she loved him.
It did not matter what he had done.

She did not bring to him a parole or pardon free.
Brought no gold, no pomp or style to see.
It was a halo bright, sent down from heaven's light,
The sweetest gift -- a mother's smile.

She left a smile you can remember.
She's gone to heaven, from heartaches free.
Those walls around you could never change her.
You were her baby, and 'ere will be.

Should I buy a Christmas gift for my Nephews unborn baby?

Mandy Cat

He's due in late February....I'm asking because my co-worker got upset b/c her mom-in-law did NOT buy her unborn children a Christmas gift.....(hers were due in late May). I would NOT have bought hers a gift either, that was 5 months past Christmas....so where do you draw the line?
Great! Then we're all in agreement.....It's my co-worker who had me wondering!

Answer
No. That's one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Your nephew's baby's first Christmas will be 2008, and you can buy him a Christmas gift then. He will neither know or care or appreciate anything you do for him this year.

And what if God forbid, something should happen between now and February? Old wives (the ones who made up all the wise old tales) would say that even doing something like that could "jinx" the blessed event somehow and superstitiously would forbid it. I won't go that far, but I will just say it is ridiculous and not at all expected by most reasonable people.

If you want to do something nice for your nephew, get something completely unrelated to baby--it will likely be one of the last indulgences like that for the parents-to-be for awhile!!

Gift for baby boy???????

Hi everyone! My little nephew was just born and I wanted to buy him some really cool and cute things. I am gonna buy some clothes but I want to get him something else really unique and cute too. Thank you x1000000000000

Answer
Alot of stuff they have in store are not on walmart/babies r us websites.

You can get diaper shirts (onesies) that have cute sayings on it, a baby book, a really cute outfit, A gift basket with an outfit, baby bath stuff and a toy.

If you are very creative you could make a blanket, or buy some plain white diaper shirts and use fabric markers and design a couple yourself.

Good luck i hope i helped!!

May I have your suggestions for a birthday gift for a 1 year old baby girl?

slk29406

She really is a miracle child. She was born at 24 weeks, weighed 1 lb 1 oz and was 11 1/2" tall at birth.

Answer
I always think that when a baby is so young, since they will not realize what is going on, there is something you can give that is not only special for them, but for the parents as well:

I would say, write a letter to that child. Tell them how special they are, and how much they mean to you. Put it in a very nice card, or little book.. just frame it in some special way. When the parents read it, they will be very touched. And, when the child is old enough to read and understand it, it will mean alot to them and make them realize that even from birth, they were loved and thought about. My guess is the child will be around the age of a teenager when they read it, and it will only strengthen the bond between you.

My aunt did this for my sister when she was born. I was always jealous of this when I was a kid, in a good way. Even as a boy, at 10 years old, I thought it was very thoughtful and special. 44 years later, my sister cherishes that letter from my aunt, and they have a speical bond that could never be broken.

This may all sound a little flowery, but I think it is not only a very thoughtful gift to a child, but the parents as well!

Baby girls 1st birthday?

My daughter will be having her 1st birthday in November and I was wondering if anyone has any cute (and unique) suggestions for the theme of her party? Or any ideas for things like decor, the cake, gifts, etc. My son is 2 years old now and both of his parties have been HUGE celebrations and I want to do the same for her, but I am stumped when it comes to an idea. I want something cute, but not necessarily your typical princess party:) Please help!!!

Answer
We did a cupcake theme. We got a big balloon shaped like a cup cake and got really good cup cakes to serve to the guests. We had cupcake plates and napkins too. We were disappointed in the choices for 1st b-da parties too. Do they think EVERYONE wants to do the same princess party?

a gift for big sis form new brother?

armywife10

I have a four yr old daughter and am about to have another baby, I want to get a gift for my daughter when I bring the new baby home, just from her baby brother, to make her feel special. What would be a good gift to give her from the baby?

Answer
I would get her a cute "big sister" shirt! and maybe a teddybear or baby doll that she can be a "mommy" to. That way she can feed her baby when you feed yours and she'll stay out of your hair (hopefully) while you have your hands full with your new little one!

congrats and good luck!

What is a good idea for a gift to big brother from baby sister?

Fia_0322

My 5 year old son recently told me he's mad at me because I'm replacing him. It broke my heart to hear him say that. I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my daughter and I wanted to get him a gift from the baby to show him he's not being replaced. Only problem is I have no clue what.

Can anyone give me some ideas on what would be a good gift for big brother from baby sister?

Thanks!

Answer
be advised that consumerism is NOT sustainable

also a gift of material things can NOT replace
genuine concern and respect, he needs to know
that you are still concerned about him and you care.
don't smother him with material gifts, just give him
your genuine respect and he will know.

Parents: Birthday party questions?

Mom to an

I'm planning my daughters first birthday and I have a few questions.

1. How early do you send out invitations?
2. Is it rude to take presents home to open them or should you and baby open them at the party?
3. How long should the party last?
4. What can I put in the gift bags to send home with the kids who attend (ages will range from 10 months - 11 years and I will personalize for each child according to age)?

Answer
1. No later than two weeks before the date of the party. This gives guests plenty of time to rearrange their schedule if possible in order to attend.

2. Considering your daughter's age. She'll need your help to open them. That's what we did at my daughter's 1st & 2nd birthday. People attending will want to & love to see her reactions when she opens and see's all of her gifts.

3. A couple hours should be sufficient. Though this will depend on if you're doing food, cake & games. If you're just doing cake and presents. You won't need more than an hour or so.

4. Gerber cookies and a rattle toy for the younger kids. And for the older. A few candies, maybe miniature candy bars(nothing containing peanuts or peanut butter in case of allergies) & a coloring book. Goodie bags don't have to be stuffed. Just a small treat to say thanks for attending.

Whats the perfect gift for a 2 month old baby?

Q.

Answer
I always buy little board books with very simple pictures in them for my friends who've had babies (and for first birthdays). I started 'reading' to my son when he was about 2 months old (looking at pictures). We used those books for months and months - in fact we still use those simple books some days (at 19 months). You can never have too many books in my opinion.

If you buy clothes, ask mom what sizes she needs. I had tons of people buy NB or 0-3 months clothes and I had WAYYYY too many (he didn't even get to wear many of them).

I wouldn't buy stuffed animals or anything, most people have too many.

I agree that safety items might be good because they're usually crawling around at 9 months and they sure can get into things!
