What is an appropriate holiday gift for a personal service provider (the valet in my building)?

gifts for mom $30..$50 image

Steve D

I just moved into a full-service high-rise building. The building requires valet parking, rather than assigned spaces. So, I have no choice other than to use the valet service. I assume that I do not tip them daily for bringing my car up. But, I also assume that there is some gratuity to show my appreciation for their service that is appropriate around holidays, appreciation for special service, etc. What is appropriate? Also, the building provides a cleaning service that I use, which is paid weekly - what is fair for holiday gifting for the cleaning service? Thanks!

Answer
I found this article on-line which may help.

Modern Etiquette for Holiday Gifts and Tips
How to shop for those around you

By Candace Leigh
At risk of making the holidays all about the Benjamins, there are a few more palms to grease in order to smooth the coming year. There are so many players keeping you together â some you tip every time you see them, some you donât. If you divide your holiday tipping over the year, though, itâs just pennies a day to the people on which you rely. For cash gifts, basic guidelines includeâ¦
Manicurist, Hairstylist, or Esthetician: 15% tip for each service, no less than $5; for your âgo toâ guy or gal, the one who knows your dirty gossip, the amount equal to the price of a basic service

House Cleaner or Lawn Service: amount equal to a single service

Sitter: $20-50 based on frequency

Newspaper Delivery: daily $15-25, weekends only $5-15

Got a doorman? Lucky you! Give cash: $50 â 100.

Donât forget the maintenance guy! The best course of action is to give little thoughtful gifts throughout the year: movie tickets, fancy snacks, coffee shop gift cards, etc. When your A/C quits in July, youâll be happy for his quick response; if your new aquarium creates a deluge, youâll be grateful for a little mercy. If youâve been neglectful this year, gift $30-50, and resolve to make him your ally in the new season. Those little gifts suck up well to the landlord, too.

Have you met your neighbors? Now is the time to make friends who can give your car a jump, plant or pet sit, keep a spare key for emergencies, or just let it slide when youâve got Andre3000 turned up to 11. Mom was right about the muffin baskets, but if you have culinary challenges, you can introduce yourself with a foam box of Paccugio gelato, a poinsettia or paper whites, or just a pretty bottle of cider.

Now, review your daily routine and consider the supporting players who take care of you. The smiling barista who remembers your name and the super-complicated coffee drink? The bartender who keeps your glass full at happy hour prices? The salesgirl who picked, wrapped, and shipped your presents, and called 30 stores to find that last remaining snakeskin clutch? For restaurants and retail, a small gift would go a long way towards continuing great service. Atkins, South Beach, or raw foods diet duly noted treats are still in. William-Sonomaâs peppermint bark or Marie-Belle hot chocolate are always appreciated. Avoid giving something too intimate. (Donât try to ferret out your bartenderâs favorite lotion.) Donât present that cute Starbucks girl a Swiss Colony beef log. In short, donât be, or appear to be, creepy stalker guy.

If youâre unsure what to give, a personal letter of appreciation to a personâs supervisor can have a big impact. When was the last time you received an unsolicited (written, not e-mailed) compliment from a client, customer, or co-worker?

If cash is tight, find small gifts like toys for adults (not adult toys), flowers and small plants, bar accessories, or candles. If cash is very tight, cut your gift list, but not your holiday card list. A quick personal note of thanks is the least you can do.

Start resolutions early this year. Itâs never too late to reciprocate the good work of your entourage.

What should I buy my BF daughter for her baby shower? She is having a girl in February.?

New Mommy

Okay new mom's what was your favorite gift that you got at your shower? I'm thinking between $30-$50.

Answer
My MIL gave us an embroidered blanket with my son's name. I absolutely love it!
Also, photo albums and frames are wonderful to have.
I just love the idea of something personalized- like a silver spoon, a cup, piggy bank, etc. These are some things I didn't get, but wish I had.

What is appropriate gift giving etiquette for my girlfriend's family?

gift for mom cheap on sending home small mother s day gifts makes kids moms and me happy but ...
gift for mom cheap image

Extra $$

I have been dating my girlfriend for 9 months and in addition to getting her a gift for x-mas, I was planning to get a small gift for her mom/dad (not individually, but a gift they could share and both appreciate). Mind you, just a nice gesture. Anyway, she has been hinting that I should get her Mom and Dad individual gifts, as well as a gift for her brother, sister, and nephew.

Is is me, or is this really appropriate. I have never done this with past girlfriends. And, it's not like I'm trying to be cheap -- I am just wondering: who's tradition is out of whack here, mine or hers?

Answer
Your tradition is more appropriate by general standards. It's a bit rude of her to ask you to buy gifts for a tonne of her family members - especially if you aren't really close with them. She probably just doesn't want anyone to feel excluded, but it's not fair to put that kind of responsibility on someone she's been dating for nine months.

I think one gift and a nice card would be appropriate for her parents. I don't think there is any need to get a gift for everyone in her family. Otherwise, you can do a different approach and try getting a gift the whole family can share - like a board game or bottle of wine (depending on the ages, of course).

You're not obligated to buy every family member gift. Maybe next time she hints, explain that you don't feel comfortable giving everyone a gift but you want her family to know that you've thought of them.

What are some good Christmas gift ideas?

Gingergirl

I think I always get sucky gifts for my friends and never know what to get them.
What are some cheap, creative, and good gifts for
mom-
bestfriend-
other friends-
brother-
sister-
dad-

Answer
I'm always on a tight budget, but to make sure they ike their gift this is what I do.
Examples;
*mom loves to bake-look for a baking book on sale
*friend likes to golf-Look for golf items on sale
Other friend loves to read-books on sale
The key is to make sure you get them something they enjoy doing or learning about. Then it becomes a thoughtful gift. The price doesn't matter

Who's read the gift of Magi in the third course elements of literature book?

gifts for baby number 3 on Baby Clothes Bouquet handmade Boy baby shower gift New | eBay
gifts for baby number 3 image

hello!

I need FIVE examples of where they use the number three in the book,
it would help a lot.

Answer
"The magi, as you know, were wise men--wonderfully wise men--who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger."
*There were 3 Magi and they brought 3 gifts for baby Jesus.

"Three times Della counted it."
*She counts her money 3 times.

"Pennies saved one and two at a time..."
*One and two make 3.

"...life is made up of sobs, sniffles, and smiles..."
*To Della, there are 3 things that life is made up of.

"...its possessor was being paid $30 per week."
*$30 has a 3.

"...stood still while a tear or two splashed on the worn red carpet."
*One tear plus two more tears makes 3 tears.

What should I expect when I bring my baby home from the hospital?

Amber

I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant.
Its really starting to sink in on what life will be like when I bring the baby home. I think of course majority of first time moms think about breaking in all the baby stuff and showing off the cute new baby. BUT.... What should I really expect?

-I have loads of diapers, wipes, and bottles.
-I'm paying my rent up for 4 months in advance to ease my mind although my boyfriend is not taking off of work.
-I will have loads of baby clothes ranging from 0-12 months.
-I have a $250 walmart gift card for any last minute needs.
- I'll have a swing, bouncer, crib, pack and play, changing table, travel system etc...
AHHHH! No where sells extra hands. Lol.

So, is there any tips you have? How you coped with sleep, finances, baby etc...

How long can I expect to be sore? Did getting out of the house help you any?

Thanks so much in advance! :)

Answer
From a male point of view, you can expect a lot of sleepless nights until your baby starts sleeping all night. You will be tired and you will find yourself napping when your baby does. You may want to hold off on the bouncer and swing until he gets a little older and can actually sit up by himself/herself. You may want to consider disposable diapers. baby shampoo, etc. For the first couple days, you will spend a lot of time treating your baby like he is a new toy. you will hold him and just watch him sleep. You will smile a lot for about 3 weeks and then you will feel tired.
Now, the boyfriend: he may be a great guy and all excited about the baby, but he is going to take on a new role when the baby comes home. He is going to feel totally left out of everything. and thats perfectly natural because he will be left out. Your number one concern is your baby. You will do everything for your child for a while. He may find himself making meals for you because you will be too tired. The father takes on a whole new role when the baby comes home. Its almost like he becomes the sole provider and less of a boyfriend. Oh, and you might want to consider getting married.

What's a good gift to give a couple expecting a baby?

gift for couple expecting baby image

My friends are a couple that are expecting in a month . Their probably won't be an actual baby shower, and that's more for the female friends anyway. However I did want to get the two of them something they can enjoy together wither before or after the baby arrives. My thought was a gift card to a nice restaurant so they can relax after taking care of the baby so much. Keep in mind I wanted to get them an adult gift and not baby supplies. Any other ideas?

Answer
It's tough to go out to a restaurant with a new baby in the family. It's going to be a while before they can really use it to it's full advantage.
A suggestion along the same lines.....you could "cater" dinner for them one night.
Arrange for food, beverages and a DVD and that way they can eat when they are able and can watch the DVD as time permits.
Very nice that you want to think of Mom and Dad during this busy time in their life. (make sure to tuck a little something for baby in whatever you do)

Is a gender neutral baby gift appropriate as a Christmas gift for a couple expecting their third child?

Te

My boyfriend's friend and his wife are expecting their third child. They already have two boys ages three and one. I thought since they are being so kind to let me stay with them and my boyfriend for three weeks, I'd get them something for Christmas.

I don't know the gender of the baby, so would a gender neutral baby gift be appropriate for their Christmas gift?
I have no idea what that will be. Suggestions are appreciated!

Answer
Of course! I'd be terrible to give them something feminine when it turns out to be a boy!

Oh, I guess you mean to get them "a baby gift?" :) Yes, I'm sure the parents would love it. What woman DOESN'T like getting baby things(especially a pregnant woman)? Plus, I'm sure it will be very useful to them as well.

I'd be interested to know what you were getting them(not that it matters too much I guess).

ETA: clothes, bottles, pacifiers, blankets, booties, rattles, teddy bears, bibs, new born mittens, onesies(sp?), etc. What all I suggested in my other answer. I wasn't sure if you knew what a diaper cake was. I didn't ever see one myself until about a year ago. It's a shame you couldn't bring that.

Or, you could get something little for the 2 little kids? Something distinctly American and/or of the state you're living in. Maybe a Christmas ornament - "for the ..... Family" or "Merry Christmas from Montana" or wherever it is you're from. Just an idea...

What do you think about having a baby shower list?

gift list for baby registry image

I know this is a party I cannot throw myself; however, I'm thinking about having a gift list with things I'll use. I think it's a good idea since most presents are clothes or things you don't use later. I'm thinking about including diapers, lotions, shampoo and creams, blankets, diaper bag, and so on.

Do you think it's rude to include a baby shower gift list?
haha, sorry, I didn't mean to include literally a "list", I'm just saying to include registry information together with the card.

Answer
While its tacky to include a gift request list with the invitation, it is customary to send along a gift registry. Its the same thing, its just more acceptable to say "Mary is registered at X store" rather than say "Mary wants diapers, lotion, shampoo, etc."

How many items from your baby registry did you receive at your shower?

danceforev

I'm trying to plan out and budget for everything we will need for the baby. I'm going to register at Target and Babies R Us but I'd like to know approximately how many of those items I can expect to receive at my shower. If you didn't receive items from your registry, did you receive gift cards/ money and gifts that were not listed on your registry?

Answer
It depends on the number of guest at the shower. I had 30 to 40 people and got about 20 or so gifts, the rest gave money and gift cards.

To help you better dicide.... We are African American and we are expecting a new baby girl in 6 weeks, and he is turning 19.

Answer
The new baby should be birthday gift enough! LOL. Ok. That was taking the cheap way out. I would get a little outfit for your daughter that says, "I love my Daddy," or something similar, and maybe get him a shirt that says, "World's Best Daddy." That would be cute!

Congratulations!

What are good ideas for gifts for a one year old girls 1st bday?

lollypop83

I have honestly never been to a birthday party for a baby or children. I just had a son who is 4 1/2 months old so now I am for the first time being invited to these types of things, I just received a invite for my cousins little girls 1st birthday and have no idea what kinds of things people usually get children this age. If you get toys, how do you know that they dont already have that toy? Any suggestions on a good gift I can take?

Answer
It's always a good idea to ask the parent if the child needs anything first. :-)

If they say no, clothes are always good at this age, because they can never have enough.

Or you could go with any brightly colored Interactive age-appropriate toy you see at the store. If you're worried they will already have it, keep the receipt in your purse just in case.

What do brides typically get for their mom as a thank you gift for their wedding?

k_jm779

I am getting married soon & I am wondering what to get my mom for my wedding. She is helping with our wedding a bit. I was thinking of getting her the "mother" handkerchief & of course a mom's photo album (once we get it from the photographer). I feel like I need to do more. Any suggestions?

Answer
I think that's great. When my daughter got married, she got me a mini photo album that was made with white satin and had pearls sewn on it. She got some free wedding photos and gave those to me as well. She also gave me a photo frame that can either hang on the wall or go on a table and it's one of those where you put in three 5X7 photos. Of course, I used the album and the frame for her wedding photos.

When our son got married, he & his wife gave us a nice 8X10 frame that was personalized with our name on the bottom of the frame. I think they got it from that store Things Remembered, which also has an on-line store, so you might want to check them out. They have alot of nice things and you can find items on sale that are reasonably priced. Congrats on your wedding!

What are some really good gifts for a one year old baby girl?

Our daughter's first birthday is on April 8. We are planning to get her a Fisher Price Baby Gymnastics Bounce and Ride Zebra, and a Disney Winnie the Pooh Teachin Lights Phone ourselves, but what are some other gifts that her cousins and grandparents, etc. can get for her that are in the $20 and under price range?

I am looking for answers from people who have kids in the same age range. What toys do your kids ~REALLY~ love?

She already has an Exersaucer, which she adores, so that one is out...

Thanks in advance!

Answer
My daughter JUST had her 1st birthday a month ago. We asked everyone to get her board books....because she LOVES them. They are inexpensive and this is a great age to start introducing books!! My daughter just loves flipping through the pages and looking at the colorful pictures!!

Other great gifts are blocks to build towers (alphabet blocks are great...Target sells a huge set of them for around $10.00). There is a great learning toy put out by Leap frog called "LuLu The Letter Spinning Spider"....BOTH of my girls have adored this!!

Other things my daughter enjoys are things she can sort.....blocks (again), links, pop beads (the big plastic ones that pop into each other), and play food (she plays with my 2 year old's play kitchen and play food way more than my 2 year old does!!)

Hope, maybe, that helped!!

If I have a 7-8 month old girl bearded dragon, could I put my new 2 week old bearded dragon in the same cage?

McKenna

My brother surprised me with a baby bearded dragon for Christmas, and I read that bearded dragons tend to kill each other when cohabited. Since they are both young can I put them in the same cage or should I buy a new cage? Thanks!

Answer
Absolutely not. The bigger one will probably bite off the tail and/or limbs if it doesn't kill the smaller one.
I know it is not your fault, but this is why I do not believe in giving live animals as gifts. You should never give someone something they are not prepared to own.
I would separate them immediately. Put the smaller one in a plastic Gladware or Rubbermaid container with holes in the lid for breathing until you can get a setup for it. It is better to have it in something that is not ideal for a day or two rather than have it permanently disfigured or killed.

Do you think that women who knowingly give birth to severely handicapped children have a touch of Munchhausen?

Nobody Spe

I mean, if the doctor says to her..."Your child will have a very poor quality of life and I recommend terminating the pregnancy."...and she insists on having the baby, doesn't that seem selfish and selfserving. Does she go through with it for the attention it will bring her? I just don't understand why a women would put a child through having a horrible, miserable, more difficult than normal life if it could be avoided.
The Tyra Banks show today is what made me think about this. A girl on there gave birth to siamese twins, joined at the head, after her doctor suggestion that she terminate the pregnancy. It just seemed like she wanted the attention. I thought to myself..."what an idiot!". Why the heck would someone do that?
Go ahead tell me what you think....even you crazy pro-lifers.
.....And, I really do not care if my own mother had aborted me. That's a stupid stance in my opinion.

Answer
This is usually a matter of family values. I was taught that any child is a 'gift from God' and that he/she might be the one to find World Peace or Cure Cancer.

Objections were always met with examples like Stephen Hawking, who is brilliant but locked inside a handicapped body, or the cruelty of the Nazis, who went all-out with eugenics by killing anyone who was old, sick, retarded, mentally ill, disabled, gay, Polish, Jewish, or just stupid.

I just say "to each his own" but I do not begrudge those that decide to rear a handicapped child instead of aborting it. In my experience, over-achieving children as just as much work as sickly or handicapped kids, so there's no one answer for this.

What items do new moms need most?

TaxGurl

My friend is expecting twins in the very near future. I know she has a limited budget so I want to get baby gifts that will be functional for her, not just stuff I think is cute. The big items like car seats, strollers, cribs are already taken care of. What other things do moms need but may not get from baby showers?

Answer
A first aid kit (the kind with a rectal baby thermometer, clippers, ointment, etc)
A baby tub
Washcloths and Baby towels
Burp cloths (they come in handy for everything)
Diapers and Wipes (these are great presents--it helps ease the financial burden)
Onsies
Booties or mittens (to keep from scratching their little faces)
A baby sling or carrier
A bottle warmer and wipe warmer (these are a godsend in the middle of the night)
A cute diaper bag, that's functional

And last but not least, and offer to babysit!

its a contrversial question i know but im of the oppian that even if they had committed all forces to nvietnam they would have won that war
dose any 1 have a diffrent point of veiw

no patrtism plaese i just want some honest histricol oppians

Answer
The fact is that we were winning almost every engagement with the enemy... every major engagement.

The fact is,that we had the capability of turning North Vietnam into plowed ground for South Vietnamese farmers... no trees, no people, no cities, no villages... nothing but fertile soil.

The fact is that the diplomats and politicans didn't understand the enemy. When the enemy waved the white flag and asked for peace talks predicated upon a ceasefire, the diplomats aind politicians did a little victor dance and trooped naively to the peace talks. They would bargain in good faith for a few days... maybe a week. Then the enemy would stomp out of the talks claiming we'd violated the ceasefire. The fact is that as soon as the ceasefire went into effect, the enemy would resupply his troops, move out his wounded and dead, and move in fresh personnel, and either dig his defenses deeper, or prepare for a new offensive. The fact is that then these preparations were complete, he'd fire on us. When we returned fire, that's when they would stomp out of the peace talks.

The fact is the media waltzed the people. They didn't report the news. They reported what was in their best interest. They found out that bad news made people angry. Angry people are moved to take some action. For the media it meant that they would turn from page one to page eight to read the rest of the story. Between page one and page eight were seven pages of ads. Advertising is where the media make money. Don't think so? Why do you think the media gets more for a 30-second spot during half-time during the coverage of the Super Bowl than they get from all the teams in all the leagues for coverage for the rest of the year? And just for the heck of it, look along the sides of the pages on any "free" web site you visit.

The fact is that the media did everything in its power to stir up hate and discontent among the folks back home. They manufactured the news. The reported incorrectly. And the public bought it. I guess you could say the media were profiteers. The supported the enemy and made money from us by doing so. Under normal circumstances that would be considered treasonous, but the media think they're immune to the law because of "freedom of the press." It's not a new idea, The late RADM Daniel Gallery, USN (RET) alluded to the same idea... and that was during WW II. He suggested that there are not three branches of the federal government, but four, the executive, legislative, and judicial... and the press. Parenthetically, the first three are governed by Constitutional checks and balances. The press somehow thinks it's above such foolishness.

Back then people spoke of the "vocal minority" and the "silent majority." The fact is that everybody listened to the former because the latter were too busy working to support the former. Because they were taken care of they became lazy. Now that minority has become a majority... but they still want the others to support them while they recline on their "lazy-boys" and badmouth everything their benefactors do.

Those aren't political statements, although they might be so construed by those who want to argue some point. They're facts. I was in Vietnam. When the history professors were splashing around in their baby food I was up to my rear in brown water and rice paddies. Before they could read about history, I was making it. That's a fact. I saw it... and I lived it.

Any so-called "US defeat" was accidental to the enemy and probably very much a surprise to him, and a gift from the misled folks back home and their naive and gullible (if not incompetent or corrupt) elected representatives.

Sadly, I fear we might see the same thing with Iraq... and for the same reasons. And, with the media not turning its attention to Afghanistan, that too may follow the same pattern.

y did everyone hate the war in Vietnam?

Eat. Sleep

Answer
the vietnam war was officially considered a "policing action" much like what we are facing in iraq. this was the first war where guerrilla tactics were used instead of it being mostly a straight fight. most of the soldiers were draftees with vey little want to be there. they were willing to give up thier lives for a cause that most of them didn't even believe in and when they returnd home these american heroes wre spit on, yelled at and many of them still suffer from ptsd today. war is hell and NO war should be liked by anyone even if they are sometimes nescassary. the simple fact is that we had no business being in the region at the time. the french had been fighting the north vietnamese for 10 years before we even came into the picture and they couldn't do any better than we did! quite simply america had never fought a war like this. in all the others it was " there is the enemy kill them". in vietnam you didn't know who the enemy was until it was too late! kids putting bombs in buildings, poisoning drinks and giving them to the troops as
'gifts" it was a bad situation no matter what side you were on.you couldn't turn your back on anyone even the ones that were supposed to be your ally.

war is hell no matter if you are winning or losing. if it wasn't there wouldn't be anything to stop us from waging it. people die on both sides. but to answer your question people hated that particular war because we had no business fighting a battle that had no ramifications on our freedoms. and many people believed that soldiers just went crazy over there and were killing innocent civillians. one of the most popular monachers for a soldier in vietnam was "baby killer". this wasn't true of course but it didn't stop the hippie movement from attacking the returning soldiers with this hate speech. unfortuanately many innocent people WERE killed in that war. they were also killed in the revolutionary war, the civil war, ww1, ww2, korea, desert storm, bosnia, etc. war is war and there will always be collateral damage thats unavoidable. in short all war is bad and should be the last resort of any nation unless they are undeniably attacked and must retaliate in defense of said nation. in vietnam we were never attacked. our government stuck our noses where it didn't belong and our troops were the ones that paid for it with thier lives.

any suggestions?

Answer
Things that will make you feel good and comfortable. Hopefully you will have a healthy delivery and you will be out quickly, but pack just in case for the unexpected. As far as packing: xlarge pj's with button downs, large slippers ( in case swelling) nursing bra, comfortable underwear, socks with rubber tread for walking, large robe, hair tyes or clips toiletrIEs ie; tooth paste, brush, hair brush, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, camera notebook /diary to write down experience and list of visitors and gifts, baby's first little suit for hospital photo session, baby blanket, baby cap/hat, car seat weather appropriate clothing for mom and baby. Your bag should have wheels for easy to maneuver in case of surgery. MP3 player, nice aroma like an essential oil for you to feel good. Nice lip color, foundation, water proof mascara. Insurance cards, contact names and numbers of friends and relatives to let them know who and when someone has arrived and how mom is doing! Best of luck to you and your family.

Is it rude not to visit a newborn baby?

Weevil

My cousin just had a baby but we've never been close. It would be easy enough to pay a visit but I would prefer to just send a card. Would that be ok or is that rude seeing as how were family.

Answer
with my first child, i had a ton of visitors because my son's father had a ton of friends and family, and it made me feel really special.
this will be my second child, and i don't have many friends or family - maybe one or two that MIGHT visit the hospital. sometimes, i imagine the baby and i sitting in the hospital alone, and it makes me sooo sad. i know his daddy will be with us, but having the support of visiting friends and family, even if they aren't close and even if we are exhausted, would mean the world to me.
if it doesn't inconvenience you too much to pop in for just half an hour, i think it would be a really thoughtful gesture.
although, if it is inconvenient or you feel awkward about it because you aren't close, don't force yourself to go. you aren't obligated.
and, the best gift i received in the hospital was an easy-to-care-for plant.
it was better than a card, easier to take home than a vase of flowers, and i got to nurture it and watch it grow along with my kiddo :)

Amazon does not actually charge a card till the item is shipped. They may have done a pre-authorization which put a hold on the amount on your card. If you cancel, that hold will be dropped and the funds will be available to you.

How do I thank co-workers for a baby shower when they all went in on one gift?

gift for baby shower organizer on Diaper Cakes - Submit an Entry: Your Favorite Arts and Crafts Products
gift for baby shower organizer image

Ludia

Some co-workers are throwing me a baby shower at work. This is my second child, I had my first before I began working here. I already feel weird that they are throwing me shower since its my second child, but they say its a different gender so its completely reasonable. My question is, how do I thank everyone properly? I was told by the organizers they invited everyone in the office, men and women, and that they are all going to contribute to a gift card for me rather than have me do a registry or give gift ideas. (I didn't register for gifts because I'm not having any other baby shower and I wasn't expecting work to throw me one) While I think its a very generous gift and I almost feel unworthy of such, I want to be able to thank everyone and let them know how truly blessed and thankful I am for their contribution, no matter how big or small. Of course I wont know how much each person contributed, so what's the best way to thank everyone? I think the idea of one general email is tacky, I'd like to be somewhat personal with my appreciation. Any ideas? And do I tell them some of things I intend to purchase with the gift cards such as baby items or do I just leave it at a thank you?

Answer
Write an individual note to each one if you wish. Thank them. Yes, tell them what you intend to purchase. Though the notes will certainly be somewhat alike, add personalized information as much as you can. For example, you can refer to other nice things the person has done if you want to and have the time. Tell them that you not only appreciate the gift but that you appreciate them for being such supportive co-workers. Do be careful not to be more gushy with some than others. They may share.

Where can I find a bottle organizer at?

dragonfly7

I do not need a drying rack, I have that. I either want an actual bottle organizer to store them in or any other suggestions you may have. I have limited cubbard space and I am trying to save some room while keeping it convienent.

Answer
I don't know if you got one at your baby shower or not, but you know the big Johnson's gift sets that come in a plastic basket. I use that to keep bottles in. It can hold 8 bottles at once and barely uses any space in the cabinet or refrigerator.

What do you do when you volunteer in a hospital??

gifts for hospital visitors baby on South Haven Tribune - Arts & Entertainment 9.23.13Artist Dawn ...

I want to volunteer in a hospital but i dont know what they spacificly do.....

Answer
well i volunteer in a hospital on the weekends and I do things like bring water to patients, deliver wheel chairs and chart packs to nurses, offer food and beverages to visitors in the hospital, run the gift shop, play with kids in the pediatric unit, and do various tasks asked by the nurses. You wouldn't be cleaning bedpans or the patients or anything like that unless you are certified as a nursing assistant. As a voluteer you are somewhat a liability so you aren't allowed to do that much.
I'm only 16.. idk how old you are.. but some of the older volunteers at the hospitals knit hats for the newborn babies and things like that.. Hope that helps

Did you want people to visit you in the hospital after birth?

Crystal B

If yes, how long after? What type of gift did you like the best, if anything?

Answer
I have a now 7 month old son and I was induced so I was in the hospital all weekend. When I was in hard labor I hated having a million people around. Some didn't bother me but there were times when family was just crowded in. He was born at 1248 in the morning and my immediate family were the only ones waiting and that was nice. They checked on me and each held the baby for a second and then left us be for the night. The next day I was glad to have visitors.
