Unique and Practical Baby Shower Gift for Twin Boys?

carla

A good friend of ours is having twin boys. We want to give her a unique but practical gift. I checked her registry and all she really registered for was toys and things that the babies won't be able to use for a while. I think she has all of the crib, carseat, and stroller stuff covered. Does anyone have any good ideas for twins???? Please advise!

Who bring presents & gifts during Christmas to the American families; Baby Jesus, Santa Claus or the 3 Kings?

Texicano-A

Answer
even though this is not a political question i will answer it anyway-i'm just that nice. i have noticed that you asked another question with "baby jesus" in the question. what is with your fascination with jesus? wait let me rephrase that-baby jesus. well back on track. Baby jesus didn't give the american families squat. it wasn't until he was a man that he actually did something great, right?(i'm some-what guessing(i'm atheist)). santa isn't real-sorry to tell you. the three kings? where did you come up with that? not only were they in the picture 2000+ years ago, far from the life expectancy of anyone, but they didn't care about normal people. only about baby jesus-now your fascination with baby jesus comes into play. it was everyday people that made christmas what it is. middle class parents that try to give their young children the faintest glimpse of something other than death and decay caused from the world today, are the people that you should be saying thanks to. next time maybe rephrase your question or make a little sense

what were the three gifts of the wise men to baby jesus?

murphy8084

Answer
Frankincense, Gold, and Myrrh.

Frankincense and myrrh are both resins -- dried tree sap -- that come from trees of the genus Boswellia (frankincense) and Commiphora (myrhh), which are common to Somalia. And in the time of Jesus could be found in southern Saudia Arabia.

And, of course, gold is gold.

PLEASE help me with a memorial gift for baby?

tonna_lynn

I have a friend whom had a baby boy that was stillborn at fullterm, she has since gotten pregnant and is going to have a baby girl. I am wanting to get a her a gift for the baby girl that would be a little memorial as well for her brother.....I am just not sure what to get, any suggestions? I know from experience of having two baby brothers die that I would have loved to have something to touch just with thier names on it.....it would have meant so much.
I love all the ideas, I love the build a bear the most so far.....let me ask this....do think the mom would be ok with that? It's kind of a touchy subject....I mean do you think she would be offended if I got something for her new baby in rememberance kinda of the other baby....I think its sweet but I don't want to do something that is a faux pas......I have never been in that situation and don't know what to do.

Answer
When I lost a baby my mom got me a little necklace with a charm that had a baby footprint and the baby's birthstone. I wore it for a year after my loss, and now keep it in a special box in my jewelry box.

What did you get for your baby shower?

*Elli's Ma

I would like to know what you ladies got for your baby showers if you had on?. What was the most useful item? What was the least useful? The best and thorough list gets 10 pts. Thanks a bunch!

Answer
The Best Gifts:

Diapers!!

Baby Care Items: Tear-Free Shampoo, Baby Bath, Washcloths, Wipes, Diaper Cream....

Swing: Battery Operated

Vibrating Bouncy Chair

Lullabye CD (You can find some great contemporary ones....I danced with my girls to soothe them when they were babies at bedtime and we still do this every night at bedtime and they are 3 and 4!). The gift of music is a GREAT gift!

Hooded Towels: These are great for keeping baby warm after bathime and you can keep the hood on them while you get them dressed.

Onesies and Socks: You can never have too many because the onesies will get stained and the socks have a mysterious way of going missing!

Receiving Blankets: You can use them to swaddle, as portable diaper changing stations, as burp cloths, to clean up a mess....VERY VERSATILE!

Diaper Bag: A great diaper bag is a must!

Personalized Items: Not only are these simply very nice things to have....a personalized blanket, diaper bag, tote or cap will never accidentally go home with another child at daycare, moms group or the family function. A big blanket with baby's name will grow with them through toddler-hood, too!

Travel system is nice.....but I think only the one registered for or that mommy and daddy wants is the way to go on this high-ticket item! (Travel system is the car seat and stroller combo!)

Nursery set/Bedding set....once again this is a very nice item to get at the shower if the giver goes with the one the parents chose! The nursery set sets the tone for the ENTIRE nursery and mom and dad should be the ones to pick this one out!

Snugli or Baby Wrap: There is nothing better than being able to grocery shop or go for a walk at the mall with your hands free! Baby simply loves being close to mom and these carriers are the perfect way to lull baby to sleep and still be able to get all your things done!
______________

Gifts that were......not needed

Diaper Genie: Poop smells like poop. Poop in a cool plastic container with scented liners smells like.....Scented Poop? Skip the genie and just take those diapers to the tough kitchen trashcan and throw your trash out a couple of times a day!

Boppy: I never could get the hang of the boppy. It looked cool but I found a big king sized pillow to be much easier and better to manipulate for the PERFECT position when bottle feeding AND breast feeding.

Fancy Outfits: Too many of these will have you wasting days spot treating all those blowout/spitup/food stains. One or two is fine but too many of these and they'll never get worn!!

Diaper Stacker: The new mom has enough to do without having to make the unused diapers look pretty in the stacker.

Heartbeat Sound Gizmos: I tried doing this with my fussy 2nd daughter....it never worked. They want to be close to mommy and the heartbeat sound thing is convincing but, in our case, a no go. Save your dollars!

Pastel Mobiles: Research says babies are much more interested in BRIGHT COLORS....so pastel mobiles with just plush animals hanging down aren't going to be very interesting to the little one!

Mattress Covers: Baby had a leak at 2am.....that mattress cover is going to have to come off as well as the sheet. After getting the NEW one on and then trying to wrestle on the sheet on top of that....mom and dad are going to figure out that the crib mattress is VINYL and that the mattress cover, really, isn't neccesary. Baby is going to be perfectly happy on just the sheet! Just make sure to wipe down the mattress with a baby-friendly cleanser everytime sheets are changed!

Hope that helped!

Gender reveal/baby shower 2nd baby?

Peaches12

My husband wants to find out gender of baby#2. I do not. But I said if we do I want a gender reveal party. Not just the boring tech telling us.
I want a small maybe 12 person party. (Parents, siblings, my grandma) BUT last get together. My MIL started a ton of drama. So now I don't know what to do.

My mom knows this is important to me. She wants to have a 35-40 person gender reveal & baby shower. She wants everyone but ME to know the gender. So they can buy gifts.

Honestly we don't need much, I did a registery because I was asked to by many family members. There was nothing on it. We really only need clothes if its a boy. I like Honesy company by mail (monthly) diapers. So diapers aren't worth buying. I saved everything from our 20 month old. & seasons will be close.

What to do?

I hate to turn down a party everyone wants to throw me. (Including guest) this is the 2nd great grandchild. So my huge family wants to spoil him/her. Like they do my daughter. But we don't NEED.

My parents are putting on a huge porch addition on their house so they would have the space for the party. (I don't more then 15 people).

Answer
If you feel really strongly that you don't want to know the gender, then don't find out. Maybe you could just leave the room while your husband finds out and he could keep it a secret from you?
If everyone wants to throw you a huge party, that's great! You don't have to make it a gender reveal party if you don't want to. I know it's not particularly fun for your guests who are doing the shopping, but if you don't need anything, you could ask for gift cards. That way you can buy clothes for a boy or, if it's a girl, just put them aside until you do need something.
Or ask your guests to contribute to an educational fund for both your kids. Or ask people to donate to your favourite charity and celebrate your baby by giving to others who don't already have everything they need. What a great start to your baby's life!

What do we think about a gender reveal baby shower?

Daniella

My friend and I are planning her baby shower and shes having a boy. after she got pregnant she created a registry for both a boy and a girl. So her husband and mine have been helping me prep the nursery for her. We decided that i would know the gender but she wouldnt so on the day of her babyshower her first gift would reveal what it is. The shower would be themed bumble bees for no apparent reason other than it wouldnt give the gender away until shes ready to find out. After she would be able to come home and we will show her the fully completed nursery that just needs touch ups and the gifts from her baby shower can be put away. Does that sound reasonable? She thought it would be cool if her husband was the one to tell me the gender before she even knew because it would help him bond woth the baby even though shes carrying it. Please give me elaborated thoughts!

Answer
AMAZING IDEA!! I love it! Your friend will be seriously head over hills for the party. Might I make a suggestion though? Do a blue cake with white icing and have her cut the cake to discover the gender :)

Christmas gift ideas for my family?

Amanda

I know it's early, but I've been thinking about Christmas gifts for my family already.
My mom - kindergarten teacher, likes to cook/bake, loves soup and Indian food, likes jewelry, currently has this thing for Adele, likes jewelry, originally from England
My dad - gardener/landscaper, likes the Olympics and Tour de France, a variety of bands/artists (older ones), originally from the Netherlands
My brother - 17, senior in high school this year, plays soccer, loves his video games, loves chocolate
Not so sure what to get them - my mom is pretty easy (currently thinking of getting her a soup cookbook and maybe some cooking supplies) - my dad and brother though aren't so easy and my current ideas are pretty simple and boring (CD for dad, video game for brother). Any ideas are welcome and appreciated!

Answer
buy your dad the olympic mascot teddy and a some christmas-y plant seeds to plant
for your brother get a lot of chocolate and some soccer kit for a soccer team he likes
and for your mom get her a cookbook for indian food instead of soup...

hope i helped and i hope you have a lovely winter and autumn merry early christmas!!! :)

Answer

taurus are usually creative right? well my mom is anyway...... think of something he likes or wants.. like a chain or pendant or soccer shirt, and personalize it, his name or a quote you 2 live by or what ever! its sentimental and it looks like it took ours of time to compile it! buying things is easy, personalizing it is Beautiful.. take some time and think about it and get it done!

What are some good gift ideas for a mom with everything?

Brit

I've already started my Christmas shopping for my family members. I like to get it out of the way so I'm not rushing around doing last minute decision making, which can end horribly. My mom is very hard to buy for sometimes, and I try to be thoughtful with any gift I purchase. While sentimental gifts are nice, I much prefer ones that are practical; something I know she'll use.

Let me tell you a bit about her. She is very much a tomboy: no makeup, lavish jewelry, dresses, etc. On the other hand, she LOVES working outdoors, getting her hands greasy under the hood of a vehicle, and keeping up with the latest gadgets, although she is not a gadget nerd.

So, fellow Answerers, what's some good gift ideas? I'm sort of all over the place at the moment, and I need some fresh inspiration. Thanks!

Answer
- A subscription to a movie service like Netflix
- A magazine subscription related to one of her interests. You can give her the magazine that's on the stand with a note saying to expect 11 more.
- Gift certificate to a favorite coffee or lunch place
- Tickets to a sporting event or cultural event like ballet or theatre, if she's into that

Good luck!

Gift for an 9 month old girl?

Joscasta

Some friends of mine just told me last week that they don't have a lot of funds for christmas presents this year for their daughter. He's the sole breadwinner of the family, and she's trying to finish school so she can get a better job.

What kind of gift should I get for their baby girl? It needs to be fairly inexpensive, since I have a ton of people to give stuff too, and not alot of funds.. and the couple themselves are getting a bottle of wine.

Answer
Walmart and Kmart have a good selection of toys. There is a whole section just for around that age range.

Kids that age tend to like anything that makes noise. There are a lot of cheap ones ( under 10 dollars) like toy phones, or ones that sing songs...that you can get at the stores mentioned above!

What types of toys does a 9 month old play with?

Kelly

i want to go shopping for a 9 month old baby girl.. what would be some good gifts to buy?

Answer
i nanny for a 3 year old and a 9 month baby girl and note she plays more with the every day things, wooden spoons, does alot of singing, plays with her spoon at lunchtime etc.
some good toys for her now and when she develops more would be things like musical instruments - little bells are always a good choice! some shape sorters or stacking cups are good too, things like pop up toys are fun now that they are old enough to show some real emotion and repeat things constantly! books with touchy feely bits or material books can be good or anything they can chew as they are teething!
something little always interests her, things like playing with the odd bit of this and that so there isnt much she needs at this age but think about nice musical or toys which 'do' things rather than a cuddly stuffed rabbit!
you can always ask a help advisor too.
my tip is to look at the age range stated, ask an advisor or here is a list of top 5 in my opinion with a little research:

1. shape sorter - shape sorter wooden bus is nice, if you live in UK?
2.musical instruments or a singing book - v tech do a nice one
3.stacking toys/cups/blocks
4.tea set - possibly the most used toy right up to when they are older
5.wooden blocks or the 'walker' to push them in
have fun!!!

Baby Shower Food??

cjm593

I'm throwing a baby shower in a week, and I need ideas for food. The shower will be from 4-6, so I'm having a hard time deciding on what type of food to prepare. The theme for the shower is "A star is born," (a hollywood/celebrity spin) so if anyone has food ideas that go along with this theme then that would be great!! :o) Also, if anyone has ideas on decorations then that would also be wonderful!

Thank you all sooooo much!
ALL OF YOU have given me so much WONDERFUL advice. It will be very hard for me to pick a best answer. THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH!!!!

Answer
Sweet baby: Make it modern: Invite the guys!
Baby showers don't have to be stale and dated.
How to decorate: Just start with a color
Move away from the traditional pink and blue and start by asking the mom-to-be her favorite color to set the theme.

Try using a touch of modern design and bold color: Orange-and-teal is a fun change of a pace.

Decorate the table with concentric circles on a construction-paper tablecloth and try creating graphic mobiles (construction-paper circles hanging from an embroidery ring) that can serve as a gift.

What to serve? Rely on takeout â no cooking, no prep!
Try store-bought food items and place them on fun trays that match the theme. You can do pizza bites or sub sandwiches â something easy to buy and prep in little time.

Here's a simple menu:

Munchies:

Dumplings: Order chicken, watercress, shrimp and pork dumplings from a Chinese delivery menu, along with pork buns, pork shumai and chicken and vegetable potstickers (aim for about six pieces per guest). Or buy frozen dumplings. (We like the Ling Ling brand, available at Whole Foods.)
Spicy wasabi peas
Edamame sprinkled with sesame salt
Candy-coated sesame seeds
Dried sweet potatoes
Bowl of clementines, kumquats and tangerines play off the color scheme.
Dessert:
It doesn't have to be cake. Instead serve Japanese mochi and dry Meyer-lemon sodas.

Gift ideas: Go for modern favorites and personal touches
It's not about who can spend the most money. It's about useful and unique ideas that will make the mom-to-be (and baby!) happy. Here are a couple of fun options:

Custom CDs of nursing and bedtime tunes (not just for the baby, music you would want to listen to, too)
Make a scrapbook to show the baby who's who in her new world.
Felt toy basket, full of things that other âBlueprintâ mothers have grown to know and love. Everyone contributes a specific amount of money (âBlueprintâ staffers put in $20-30 each for our shower) and they present mom with the group gift.
Alphabet poster: My favorite! This is the only thing I'll give at showers from now on!
Sheep teething toy (very cute and inexpensive â also makes a great small baby gift for a not-as-close friend).
Books: Bruno Munari's âABC and The Soles of Your Feetâ

How are Japanese Spitz as pets?

Andrea

My family is thinking of getting a Japanese Spitz for our next family dog.
I just wanted to know these 2 questions.
- Do they require lots of food?
- Besides the yearly shed , does their hair shed any other time regulary?

Answer
Hello
Japanese Spitz like a lot of food.I advise you some tips of choosing good dog.Having a dog is always a joy to any family. Depending on your current home setup here are some dog choosing tips that you may want to consider:

1. Dogs Shed hair - shedding is the natural process by which dogs replace hair. Some dogs shed more than others but generally all of them do.

If you have children or you yourself have asthma or other health condition triggered by animal hair, you may want to consider getting a dog that doesn't shed too much. Some dogs that don't shed too much are Shiites, Poodles and some breeds of Terriers

Another thing to consider about dog shedding is the need to clean and vacuum. For this, since all dogs shed, the consideration is more on the amount of time you have to clean up. Longer hair is easier to clean as this would be more visible, while short hair definitely requires regular vacuuming

2. Barking - generally the smaller breeds bark more than the larger ones. Although the bigger dogs when they bark, the sound resonates quite a distance.

The sound of persistent barking can be quite a disturbance specially if this happens during the night time when people are asleep.

If you have neighbors, specially next door neighbors, who work at night, have a baby, or is an old person, you may want to have their approval first, so at least they know what to expect. You don't really need to, but you'll definitely get extra gifts on Christmas if you do.

3. Feed them or they die - this may sound a bit harsh, but it is a reality.

This actually is more about your own personal lifestyle than anything. If you're the type who works or is fond of going out, and cannot be home with some regularity, You're dog may starve, unless you have someone else at home with you who can pitch in feeding.

If this is the case, you may want a dog that is friendly and not aggressive, like a Labrador, so you may ask any neighbor or friend to simply drop by and feed your dog should you not be able to get home, and your friend will not be scared of doing it for you.

4. Walk them or die - this is similar to feeding but in this case you die of the stench when you come home and find a big pile of mess because you were not able to take them out for a walk.

If you're an apartment dweller, a small dog like a Chihuahua or a Toy Poodle trained to pee and do his thing on a porch or a newspaper may be a good choice

5. Need love and attention - there have been cases where dogs simply pass away due to loneliness because their masters don't mind them much. This may be a bit of an extreme but unless you or someone is able to at least attend to their basic needs such as the above, maybe dogs are not for you

As you may have seen, having a dog is much like having another child. They need to be fed, groomed, loved and cared for. Choose the type of breed that fits you're personality and lifestyle and you should have fond memories together with your dog.

Answer
These always work. 7yrs old and up.

They are very cute and cheap ( and useful) and I always use these when I want to give a gift without spending a lot of money.

I use these all the time as stocking stuffers or for Secret Santa parties.
and people always seem to love them and ask where I got them. Great for guy or gal.

They also have a great sale going on

I hope this helps.

Big sister gifts and new baby and sibling help?

Made in Ch

My baby is due soon! I have two girls ages 6 and 3. I was wondering if you had any ideas for big sister gifts for both of them. I was thinking:

-T-shirts to wear when the baby is born
-Special Day with Mom and Dad for each of them before the baby comes
-After the baby was born I was thinking to give them both rewards for being the best big sisters ever!

I am going all out with 'spoiling' my girls because I am very nervous that they especially the 3 year old will think that I don't love them anymore that I'm going to love the new baby more. I have talked to them about this 'mommy and daddy love you all equally and you are all very special to us'. There was a little jelously with my second child between the first. But with three kids I think their will be even more! Do you think that is the right thing to do?

Answer
The t-shirts are great ideas for gifts! And special Mommy and Daddy time for each of them is very important.

I actually think the third baby is usually met with much less jealousy than the second. By now, both of your girls are used to having to share Mommy and Daddy with someone else. Your youngest may have some trouble accepting that she is no longer the baby of the family. I'd suggest putting extra emphasis on how important it is for her to be a big sister, how cool being a big girl is, etc. Stress the awesome things she can do that a baby can't (playing on the playground, helping mommy in the kitchen, singing, riding her bike, etc.) Also, let your girls help with the new baby as much as possible. They can sing/read to the baby, hand you diapers, etc. Tell them how much you need and appreciate their help.

Spending extra time with your girls now and spoiling them a little is just fine. Just don't get them so used to all the extra attention that they are even more upset when the baby comes. Also, be sure to tell them that there will be times when the baby's needs have to come first, but that doesn't mean you love them any less. It just means big girls know how to be patient and a baby has no idea!

Good luck and congrats on number 3!

Need help with baby shower gift?

racehorseg

My niece just had a baby shower last Saturday and I couldn't attend because I live 11 hours away. Anyway I am getting ready to go home here soon and I want to get her something. I asked my sister (her mother) what she needed that she didn't get and it sounds like she got everything she needs. So I am at a loss on what to get her. She's not due until June 22 and I won't be able to be there when she gives birth either. I don't want to get her something she already has that she will end up returning but yet I don't know what to get her. By the way she is having a girl. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

Answer
Onesies are great, and you use lots of them with a newborn. Another idea is to get her a gift card to a store like Target, Walmart, or Babies' r' us; so she can get what she needs. Another idea is diapers, wet wipes, or formula if she isn't going to breastfeed. Also you could get her something she can use to pamper herself, sometimes people tend to forget that new moms need pampering too!! Hope this helps.

Gift for my teachers wife who has lost baby?

Chang J

I am going back to school this week an has recently been informed that one of my past professors wife has lost her baby. I will probably see and talk to this professor again and i am wondering if I should by his wife a something.

P.S. If I do get my teachers wife a gift there is no way that he'll think that I am coming on to her cause I'm a man thats gay.

Answer
I think a card would be most appropriate. Gifts are usually given in celebration of something, not a loss.

Cheap or free DIY Christmas gifts?

Erin M

I am in need of some budget friendly Christmas gift ideas for my mom, and fiancée. When I say budget friendly I mean basically no-cost, DIY type gifts as I am 32 weeks pregnant with twins and not working so I have little to no spare cash to spend on gifts this year.

My moms favorite things are dogs, the beach, peacocks and country-style decor.

My fiancée is into Xbox, but I was leaning toward a more sentimental gift since he is the father of our two unborn twin boys, so I was thinking something involving them... They will be here by Christmas Day but anything involving photos might be hard since we could have a c-section as late as December 21 so by the time I got out of the hospital it would be next to impossible to get a project done in that time period... Help!!!

Answer
Got some family pictures? Make your mom a collage of those you love--that will remind her of how much fun you've had over the years, or things she enjoyed. You can arrange the pictures in some sort of chronological order, or just make some "theme" like "family vacations" or pets, or travel.

For your fiancee, you could make him an "emergency" treat basket--cookies you've baked, a few packages of his favorite candy, and a cute "coupon book" for things he might enjoy doing with you: such as a back rub, a foot massage, or a night out with the "boys" , He might also enjoy having a framed picture of your time together before the babies come--something he could put on his dresser or desk to remind him of your love and affection.

is my 9 month old gifted or above average in intelligence for his age?

Q. There's many things that strike me as unusual about my little one. When i read to him his picture books and tell him to point at the dog, cat, girl he will hover his fingers over the things i tell him to look for. He pays very good attention to when i read to him. One time when i was playing with him he was giggling like crazy because i kept pretending to sneeze and then all of a sudden he goes "achoo" he does a pretend sneeze too. He then smiled up at me while i was in complete shock that he could play along and make the sound.
I guess the last thing thats the kicker is that as of yesterday my boy gives me things when i ask him to. For example if he's playing and i tell him "Jacob give me the toy" and i hold out my hand he will stop playing, look me in the eye and give me the toy in my open hand. Not only does he give it to me, but with his other hand he will close my hand as if he's teaching me to how to hold it!

He's crawling and reaching all his other milestones just fine and he's the biggest chatterbox. I know i might seem like im gushing over my son, but i really must know...is he gifted? is this normal?Any other moms have babies his age who do these things?

Answer
It is too early to tell if your baby is gifted. He sounds normal. My mother -in-law was a child prodigy (one of those really really smart people that becomes a doctor at 16. She was a slower learner before 2-3 years. So what I am saying is, you never know. My husband is extremely smart too and he didn't walk until 17 months old. He was aslo very athletic too, so walking late didn't indicate lack of physical ability either.

I have met some really stupid people who walked early. the point I am trying to make is, stop obsessing what you child is or is not. They are who they are, special in their way. Creating false standards and hopes for them is not helpful. Their gifts will be revealed in time. But it is much too early to tell. The milestones your baby is making now are wonderful in the innocence and discovery. Thre does not have to be more to it for it to be amazing.

Besides, most of the time the people in this world who do the best things are those that work the hardest. A girl i went to school with always had average learning ability scores and she was our province's scholar (highest GPA). Einstein himself said that genius is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration.

best gift for a eight month old baby girl?

Answer
As a mother of a 9 month old baby boy, I can tell you what I wouldn't want - CLOTHES, blankets, etc!!!!! By this time, we either still have hand-me-downs or have bought everything that we need. I will also say that I have found that the simpler the better when it comes to toys. The ones with all of the gadgets and that cost a lot are really a waste of money. My son likes a rolling drum that flashes lights and plays music. He can push it around or beat on it and either way it does stuff and best of all it was around $10. Also, my sister-in-law asked us what to get and we had her get a shape-sorter and blocks. Really, the old-school toys are the best for learning. You can always ask the parents as they probably would appreciate that. I know I do.

Throwing a baby sprinkle (shower) for sister in law. I need help with invitations.?

dork4aharm

I need help finding great sprinkle invitation wording. I have looked at some but haven't found anything I really like. My sister in law is having her second boy and just needs basics. Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
How about this but put it on really pretty index cards: You are cordially invited to a baby shower (sprinkle) for a woman who has already had a kid. You probably have no idea why she and apparently the rest of the family feels that everyone else should provide the "basics" for her second kid but please do not show up with no gift. Also, it would be really great if you could just thank yourself in advance because everyone knows that new mothers are really busy.

You are welcome.

Birthday Gift Idea's for Mom's 50th?

KittenCats

Hi! I'm 13 and i really want to get my mom something that she will remember for her 50th birthday. If you could give ideas for some expensive gifts and other that are like 10-15 under that would be great! She doesn't wear makeup or perfume, she likes to read and she loves her animals, please dont seggest more animals because we cant do that. Also my older sister can drive me places, if i need her too. But i want her to have the best birthday and look at me like i the best daughter ever! Please help(:

Thanks. (:

Answer
Get a casual photo of your family & have it blown up to maybe a 5x8 size for framing.

You could have a party for her, surprise or not. Sometimes the pizza places will have a party room free of charge if you have at least 20 people. Might be that they have both pizza & pasta. That's the kind of party we had for my 50th. One all-you-can-eat buffet place in my home town had a party room, & my mother arranged to have a family reunion there.

If you want it to be a surprise, then tell her you're taking her out for pizza or whatever, then when she gets there, everybody's there. Could be both friends & family, even those coming from out of town & maybe you mom's co-workers, too.

However, when it was me, I figured out that a friend was doing a surprise party, & I told her I preferred just a party & not a surprise. I made a game of comic strips from newspapers, using white-out over the punch line for people to fill in with their own, laid out & photocopied from a single page & mailed with invitations. It was a contest, but I should have had everybody just pass them around instead of having judges. I do think one or two games is a good idea. Just give everybody little party favors, though, & not prizes for a contest that somebody has to judge.

I also wanted to do a sing-along for both kids & adults. I wanted to type out & print copies of the words of well-known songs. My friend said we should just ask the kids what they wanted to sing, & they would know the words. It never happened, & the kids just colored at the kids' tables on the pictures these places always provide. You couldn't have it very loud anyway.

Someone made my favorite huge apple cake for me, & that worked fine, cleared with the restaurant when we made the reservations. The restaurant supplied us with a stand & the plates for it by our pre-arrangement. Also, arrange to arrive 30 min. early to put up a few balloons & make sure it's all set up. You can buy or make decorations that say Happy 50th. Just get very few that you can hang & take down in 5-10 min.

This, of course, would be expensive, but in this case, you could get away with getting families to pay their own, with you just furnishing the cake. Or you could furnish pizza, with people paying for their own if they ordered anything else, like salad or pasta. You could also pay for drinks. Just figure out what you can do & let people know on the invitation. Invite about 100 people in order to get 20. That's how it was with me anyway. Let people bring kids because then more will be able to come, & besides, kids are fun sometimes, too.

Be ready, of course, to stand up & say something to the group, thanking them for coming & saying something about your mom, maybe just before singing Happy Birthday & cutting the cake. Your mom would probably want to say something, too. Whatever you each say, make it short, like 1 minute & not 5. Have someone corral the kids away while you're talking. With me, I just asked them sweetly to wait while I spoke, & it worked because I made it fast. Of course, you'll want to take some quick snapshots, too.

Either you or your sister should bring a clipboard or notebook & make a list of anybody bringing gifts so your mom can write thank-you notes afterward. For people on email, once again thank everybody who attended, too, especially if they paid for their own.

Happy 50th to your mom. It is indeed a special birthday that will be remembered.

What can be the best birthday gift for Mom's 50th Birthday?

Moi

Hey guys! I have some problem here. I'm 14yrs. old and my Mom is turning 50 on October. I would just like to ask what can be the best birthday gift I can give to my mom on her 50th birthday? You see, I don't have that big allowance. I just want to buy her something special that she would appreciate and be touched. Thanks for those who will answer back. :) God bless.

Answer
Your mother wouldnt want much from you. Your 14 and you dont get much money anyway, so she is not expecting anything majour. Whatever you get her it will be special to her because its from you. A family picture in a nice frame would be nice :) :)
Or you could make her something special, some flowers and a teddy with 'special mum' on it. Or anything you think she would like.

Happy birthday to your mother!!! on he day.

She will like anything. Dont worry.

:) :) im sure you will find something nice x

I need a poem that includes gifts for a mom to be that already has one kid to be given at her baby shower?

Kristie S

I have seen poems that incorporate products/presents (such as Snuggle, Parents magazine, Kisses *hershey*, ect) for a NEW mom, but my sis is having her second child and i love that idea and i am not in the least bit poetic, but i would love to read her a poem and give her gift and things she needs for baby number 2!!! Any ideas?? If you are confused let me know.......
This is an example of what im looking for:

What to Expect the First Year

Here are some ideas for the [Parents (magazine)] - to - be
The [formula] for nurturing your sweet new baby
The [light (night light)] of your lives, your baby's nearly here
Soon you both* can [Snuggle (fabric softener)] and hold your baby near
Those first sweet cries will be [music (cassette tape of lullabyes)] to your ears
Hold your wee one close, tell your baby ["No More Tears" (Johnson's Baby Shampoo)]
To [bond (savings bond; Gold Bond baby powder)] with your new baby, every day and every night
The [keys (baby teething keys)] are love and kindness, soft touches are just right
You can [Pamper (Pampers diapers)] your new bundle, who needs to feel secure.....

Then i would buy each of the items in parenthsies and hold them up as i read her the poem...So what i need is a poem like that one but for a mom of a 2nd kid, not a "new" mom...she already has one child! THANKS!!

Answer
i hope you might find these useful!

Babies are Angels that fly to the earth,

their wings disappear at the time of their birth

one look in their eyes and we're never the same

They're part of us now and that part has a name

That part is your heart and a bond that won't sever

our Babies are Angels, we love them forever.

Two tiny feet
That wave in the air
Two tiny hands
That tug at your hair
Cute bottom for patting
Adorable face
A bundle of joy
To love and embrace

Precious one,
So small,
So sweet

Dancing in
on angel feet
Straight from Heaven's
brightest star

What a miracle
you are!

When a baby enters this world,
into your life
A baby can make you forget your
worries and strife.
It really doesn't matter whether
it's a girl or a boy
A baby will melt your heart and bring you joy!
So shower a baby with love,
every single day.
Show a baby you truly care-
there's so many ways.
For with a blink of an eye, time
will fly out the door-
and your precious baby, won't
be a baby anymore!!

Welcome New Baby Poems - A Prayer for my cute baby to God

Little baby on the way,
Getting bigger every day,
Kicking mommy here and there,
God please listen to our prayer.

Keep our baby safe and strong,
Let his time with us be long,
Help us teach him right form wrong,
And we shall praise thee all day long.

This little on, though not yet here,
Is loved so much, has grown quite dear.
Delivery time is growing near,
That's why we pray our plea you'll hear.

Please help up Lord, we pray to Thee
With thankful heart, on bended knee,
To raise this child that he might be,
A happy child because of me.

New Baby Poems : A Baby is a Miracle

This little tiny baby
Was sent from God above
To fill our hearts with happiness
And touch our lives with love
He must have known
We'd give our all
And always do our best
To give our precious baby love
And be grateful and so blessed

FINGERPRINTS.

Sometimes you get discouraged,
because I am so small
And leave my little fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
And soon will be so tall
That all these little fingerprints
Will be difficult to recall.
So here's a little handprint
That you can put away
So you will know how my fingers looked
On this special day.

You are the poem
I dreamed of writing
the masterpiece
I longed to paint.
You are the shining star
I reached for In my
ever hopeful quest
for life fulfilled..
You are my child.
Now with all things
I am blessed.

IF A CHILD....

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.

The Sweetest Gift

One day a mother went to a prison
To see an erring but precious son.
She told the warden how much she loved him.
It did not matter what he had done.

She did not bring to him a parole or pardon free.
Brought no gold, no pomp or style to see.
It was a halo bright, sent down from heaven's light,
The sweetest gift -- a mother's smile.

She left a smile you can remember.
She's gone to heaven, from heartaches free.
Those walls around you could never change her.
You were her baby, and 'ere will be.

Special gift for my boyfriend..?

klk17

My boyfriend and I just recently lost our son. I was 21 weeks pregnant when he passed away inside me. My boyfriend means a lot to me, and he's been there for me every second I needed him. So for Christmas I wanted to get him something special. From both me & our son. Just to tell him we love him and appreicate him. Any ideas?

Answer
Sorry for your loss. You look young, like you shouldn't be having children yet, nevertheless, I understand the feeling of loss. I can't understand it the way you do because I never suffered that sort of loss (fortunately). However, I did go on to father five daughters, my baby is now 24. I also have one grand daughter (UGH! another girl). Oh well.

As for giving him something nice for the holiday, give him something meaningful, not sex. Help him to see how you feel about him, and maybe in the near future you may get engaged. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something that will demonstrate your love for him (again, not sex). Yeah, I keep saying that. Why? Because already you have learned what sex is and what pregnancy is. However, as yet you haven't learned what being a parent is all about. It's a tough job AND you need a partner to help you. So being sexually active, you need to be cautious and protect yourself from making an early mistake. In time you will be ready to be a parent, and so will the father of your child (hopefully). Till then, watch to see what interests him. If it's music, maybe give him a musical instrument. If it's cars, buy something for his car that he doesn't have but something that turns his head.

If he wants sex for the holiday, find a new boyfriend. He's more into his own selfishness rather than being into you and loving you. I know, I was that sort of boy many many years ago.

Good luck.

Whats a good christening gift for a baby?

Q.

Answer
Silver is always the traditional gift for christenings, silver money boxes etc.

christening??

katie-bug

my boyfriend's sister invited me to her daughter's Christening at the end of the month. I am from a non-religious family so I've never been to one. I know what they're all about and all of that good stuff but I wanted to know, are christening gifts expected? Its not a big deal if they are but if they aren't, I dont want to be the only one bringing a gift! If they are, what do you recommend? The baby is only a few months old. Thank you!!

Answer
I've never been to a christening (apart from my own) but I know I got gifts at mine. I think I got rosary beads, a cross wall hanging with a little girl praying next to it, and $100 from my uncle :-)

If I were you, I'd get her a small but nice gift such as a silver locket for when she is older or something like that.

Does Myer (Melbourne or Sydney) sell baby nursery furniture?

Gabriel B

I am specifically after a cot and change table. I recently got a $1000 Myer voucher and I am 16 weeks pregnant and it would just be so financially handy if I can use the voucher to purchase the furniture for my nursery. Also, if anyone knows if they deliver/ship large items interstate that would be great cause I am in Tasmania and our Myer stores don't have nursery furniture.

Answer
They do have lots of great baby stuff (gifts & clothes) but as far as I know they don't have nursery furniture. Maybe you could sell your voucher on eBay and buy what you want someplace else. Congrats on your baby!

Gift Ideas for a 6 month old baby?

dqn17

I am looking for a present I could give my nephew no too expensive though around 20-30$ would be nice. and where I can get it too please thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Well most 6 month olds are at the stage where they like anything with bright, bold colours. They are also usually either rolling or spending a lot of time on their tummies. Some are starting to crawl. With all this in mind, and of course your budget, you should try target. They have great colourful playmats. Some make noise, others have little toys attached to them so baby can play.
Books are always a good gift. Most bubs enjoy bein in the bath at this age too so you could always go with some sort of bath toy. You can get some that play music and squirt water and they are not expensive.
Play phones are great fun. If you decide to take the clothes option, take into account that most people buy babies clothing so I would go with pyjamas because there's less chance of doubling up.
Hope I helped.

Whats the perfect gift for a 6 month old baby boy??

who..me

Of course besides diapers.

Answer
I would also agree that a teether is helpful. My son is 8 months now and he has had this Baby Einstein Sea Turtle teether since birth and it is only think that he has consistantly enjoyed chewing on. 3 teeth later it is still the one he goes for. Another idea since it is summer is a hat. My son never spends time outdoors without a hat on. I think they are hard to find but Old Navy has lots to choose from that are in baby sizes.
