gift for premature baby in nicu image
Jessica
I have about 6 weeks left what's the earliest a baby has came on its own and was healthy. I'm so ready for my little boy to be hear but I know his lungs need to grow more. But I also wanna have an idea of when baby's can come because I want to make sure I'm not out and about with out my boyfriend.
Plus anyone have any inspiration to help me get threw these long uncomfortable, heart burn filled, stomach hurting nights? Cause honestly they suck
Answer
The inspiration to get through those nights, is that you are growing a little person who you will get to meet and hold soon. It sucks but it is temporary and you get a beautiful little gift.
I had my son at 34 weeks but that is late term premature and not fun. He was in NICU for 3 weeks. It seemed like longer for me and that was lucky because some end up being in there longer and having more issues. He had a few mild issues for his first 2 years.
Babies can really come anytime. In a healthy pregnancy usually it's around 38-42 weeks. When you go into labor, it's a process, sometimes very long. I had prelabor for weeks on a few of mine. It doesn't happen like in the movies or on tv where you are just doing normal things and all of a sudden you get a pain and the baby is coming now!! At least, it doesn't happen often, it's very uncommon.
You'll probably start with small cramps and it'll get worse and closer together over time. You'll likely be in quite large amounts of pain hours before you are even close to birth. I started labor with my first baby, went shopping and out with my mom all day. Went to the hospital about 12 hours later and was only starting active labor.
Average for first timers is 40weeks-5days. But anywhere from 38-42 weeks is "on time" because your EDD is only an average estimate of when you are due. Hospitals won't stop labor if you are at 36 weeks. That is somewhat a line. All babies are different. I had a 35 weeker and she had only mild issues and had an extended stay at the hospital with me for a couple days (which isn't common, usually 35 weekers need extra attention in NICU). Then my friend had her son at 36 weeks and he had to spend sometime in the NICU because of immature lungs.

can someone write a poem for me?
nina
A friend of mines baby is truly a miracle baby. the placenta separated from the wall. she was not premature but lost a lot of oxygen at birth. she has slowly recovering even though she still remains in the NICU on oxygen but she is off the vent and no longer needs dialysis. even the nurse said most babies die when this happens, she is a miracle. my friend and i are making the baby a quilt with the center square saying miracle baby or something like that. they named her drew and have been calling her drew drop as a nick name. i really need a good poem to go with the quilt saying how special she is and what a gift, and how she is here for a purpose. I am horrible at rhyming and saying just the right thing. so if you could help that would be great. best poem gets 10 points, 5 stars. ready... go! oh and thank you thank you!
allie, lol i hope there is but your probably right.

I'm not sure if there are any amazing writers on here, but here's a website with eight pages of poems about babies :) http://www.babysite.org/babysite/sidene/poems.htm
Edit: My favorite for you is this one:
Precious one,
So small,
So sweet
Dancing in
on angel feet
Straight from Heaven's
brightest star
What a miracle
you are!
And there's no author listed, so you probably wont have to worry about giving credit!
