How do I get out of a baby shower?

My cousin is having a baby shower and I really don't want to go. What can I say to get out of going and not hurt anyone's feelings? I'm planning on sending a gift with my mother-in-law. However, I have to send an email to the shower's coordinator and I'm not sure on what to tell her. Being honest really isn't an option in this case. Does anyone have any advice they could give me?
I do not feel comfortable with some of the people that are going to be there. I have an infertility issue that I am working on that I don't want any of the family to know about. It is really hard and stressful for me to go to her shower.
