Birthday ideas for baby girls's 1st birthday?

Expecting

her birthday falls nextweek but I plan to have a small get together that weekend... I will be inviting few neighbours and their kids... How should I decorate the living room and what should I buy... I'm so excited... Pls don't leave any tips out

Answer
I'll let someone else give you the ideas on toys & such...but I really do think this is a great thing to do in addition to whatever else you do....
Buy a small journal & write a letter to her - about the whole past year & all the struggles & wonderful moments. Take a while to write - days...jot things down as you think of them. I know you had some struggles early on with nursing, so write about that - all of it. This is a gift you save for years & keep adding to & give to her as an adult. Then as you think of it, in the years to come & EVERY year around her bday - add to it. Talk about details you'd forget & leave out of baby books. If you moved, if someone in the family passed that later she might no remember, if something great happened (like someone getting married), etc. As she picks up words now - she will say funny things, write them in there too. For instance, by oldest wanted to name my younger one "Blue with some Green on it" when he was born. We didn't go with *that* name as you can imagine, but it went into his book. His reactions to having a sibling, etc. I also wrote about how I missed him when I was in the hospital & how grown up he seemed all of a sudden. It is a wonderful gift to give once they are grown.

Anyway - enjoy it momma & remember the party IS for you too! To celebrate how far you've BOTH come in that year & that you made it, with your sanity intact & all. :)

Happy bday to your baby girl & good job momma!

Baby girl 1st birthday party?

Ok so my baby is turning 1 on October and i want to make it SUPER special!! and before people start telling me that theres no point in making it because she wont remember, my baby is a smart little girl and i know she will know whats going on...so with that said can anybody give me an idea for a theme? i want something very girly like her but i cant think of anything as special as her!! Thanks in advance...

Answer
For my 3 years olds1st b-day, her theme was flowers and cupcakes... I am very "artsy" and did student teaching for ppreschoolersfor a few years... I used a garden idea and hand-made her invite on special paper with a special poem and a keepsake from her... we had a cake in the shape of a daisy... on our wooden fence we had gigantic realistic flowers with a letter from her name in each and a sign over it that said happy birthday... handmade felt cupcake gift bags with a sippy cup, bubbles, a board book, and a mini rubber duck... cupcakes with flowers iced on them... we had fruit kabobs & mini wraps... she wore a tu-tu and a custom made diaper cover that said birthday girl Grailey on the bum and a tiara.. and we had little flower decorations everywhere..she LOVED it!!! I have most of the websites to order these items if you'd like them... wasn't too expensive
