ok my moms 60th b-day is in november,,, I have the money to get a hall to have it in and make some food but not all. Is it rude to ask the people that I am inviting to bring something even though it is a surprise party for her. If not how do i go about wording it so it does not sound corny or pushy.,... I am not good at these things. HELP!!!!

Have big 60's themed party! Like disco ball and afros,peace sign necklaces all of that stuff. That'll be awesome! Also, here's a website for 60th birthday party planning!!

Also, by tellin your guests its a surprise bday party. I would think they would want to bring a present. How about maybe suggesting gift cards for her?
If you mean by having them bring food, just write on the invite that if they could please make a favorite dish of theirs and bring it to the party.

A grandkids photoframe. My Mother in law is 60 and she loves this:

Also, she does get cold a lot. So a sweater isn't out of the question. A shawl and/or mittens is a bit granny-fied though.
She likes to listen to CD's and read books, so maybe a boarders or barns and noble giftcard?
My mother is 66 and she likes crystal things to sit around her house. Maybe some candle stick holders?
Both 60 year olds like to shop at Walgreens! My mother would buy EB5 face cream there and my Mother in law would probably stock up on birthday cards or Christmas decorations there.
