Gift ideas for mom traveling with kids?

falcios

I have a friend who is traveling overseas with her 3 kids and I would like to get her a going away gift. Any ideas as to what I should get her?
Thanks in advance.

Answer
I traveled to Korea once with my 1 year old to see a military friend. The flight was soooo long. We had a lay-over in OKC for 3 hours and then we hopped on Korean Air. That ride lasted another 17 hours (give or take). So my advice is to make her a customized gift bag (a small bag - due to carry on rules) just from you. You could include a travel pillow for her (and because she can get pillows on the plane she can even use this 5.99 pillow for one of the kids just in case they sleep with their necks drooped), sani wipes for the kids (these are about 9 bucks for 150 or more wipes) - these are essential - especially going overseas and even more so with the various viruses going around now, some aspirin for her, depending the age of the kids-teething tablets or baby bliss gripe water (hyland's tablets are the best because they calm the tummy and soothe teething pain), plenty of snacks (ie goldfish crackers), little welch's 100% apple juce bottles, the little bottles of bottled water (especially bottled water for going overseas), 3 small boxes of 5 crayons (you can buy these at any dollar store) 3 huge coloring books (I say the huge ones because the younger the child the more pages they color and the more new pages they want to color - keeps their mind off how long the flight is). Be careful not to include to many items because with 3 kids she's already going to have carry on luggage. And let me tell ya, getting kids and carry on thru checkpoints now-a-days is a mother's greatest feat. LOL (smile). I hope this helps you out some. And notice that I didn't include anything sharp or any thing that would violate faa policy. When getting gifts for airplane trips be careful to visit the airline's website to see what can be taken on board the plane and what can be carried as cargo underneath.

Gift Ideas Plz???!!!?

What should i get my mom for mother's day? She tells me she doesn't want anything, but i want to get her something. What do you suggest? (oh yeah, im only 16 so it should be something under $100 plz!)

Thanks!

Answer
I would definitely try etsy.com! All homemade stuff, so it's sure to be unique, and many things are VERY much under $100. Gorgeous jewelry, etc. They even have a section specifically for gifts for mom. =o) Only thing is ... you'll have to order through paypal or a credit card. I don't know if you have access to those or not. =oP

Otherwise, did you think of making her a nice meal? Your Mom may say that she doesn't want anything, but she would probably appreciate not having to do something she normally has to do, like clean the kitchen or cook dinner. I don't know her, but I know for my mom, I'd run her a nice bubble bath while I cleaned the kitchen & the living room up. Then I'd set the table nicely and make a nice meal.

You can easily make a nice meal by purchasing some ready made meats from your local publix. All you have to do is put them in the oven! Make a box of pasta roni & some of those green giant steamed veggies (they're made in the microwave) and get a loaf of that garlic bread in your grocer's freezer, and voilà! A "gourmet" meal for Mom, with no hassle to her. Don't forget to clean up the kitchen afterwards, too. =o)

Hope this helps!
