This Christmas, my family and I are exchanging gifts. I picked my sister who recently gave birth to a baby girl, my godchild. There is a limit of 75 $. Since I am my sister's child godmother, do I have to spend more?
Answer
Nah, it's a limit for a reason. The point of a gift exchange is so everyone is in agreement about how much to spend, and so you're not stressed with trying to buy gifts for everyone. Besides, as her godmother, there will be a lot of opportunities to buy gifts for your goddaughter when you're not buying for other people as well. And $75 is a decent amount of money, if you want, you can buy something nice for your sister and still have a little left over to buy something for the baby. They baby isn't going to know or remember this Christmas anyway, so I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Christening gift from Godmother?
Diane
My sister gave me the honor of being her first born daughters godmother.
I have no idea what is the "godmother etiquette... Of coarse, I already got my neices Cross, Gown, shoes, stockings etc. But am I suppose to get her another a gift? I know the cross and gown are what the godmother normally buys for the baby, but do I also give her money? a memento of some sorts (from maybe the store "Things remembered") Whats an ideal gift? Or is the cross and gown all that's expected?
Answer
I think that a cross and gown is plenty, but if you want a little something for the baby they make stuffed animals, dolls, etc that say the "Now I lay me down to sleep..' prayer. I think that would be nice for the baby and her parents could play it at nighttime for her.
