My brother asked me to be the godmother of his soon to be born baby girl. I am not Catholic so I am pretty unfamiliar with this, what would be an appropriate Christening gift?

my friend chose one of her oldest friends to be the godmother for her daughter and this is what she did......
She bought a ring for Katie (mom) to wear until the baby is old enough to have her confirmation, where the ring will then be presented to the daughter. That way she isn't giving her something arbitrary, the ring will then become a heirloom to be passed down through generations.
I though it was a beautiful idea, but not sure if it fits your budget.

what is a good saying to be engraved in a babys locket?
it is a baby girl for her christening. the saying DOES NOT have to be religous and it cant be long because it need to fit. thank you(:
