gift for baby girl christening image
Louis G
My wife and I are the proud new parents of a beautiful baby girl. We had her Christened this past weekend and many of our relatives have given her gifts for the occasion. Many of these gifts were in the form of a check. We would like to deposit these checks in our savings account until we can decide what we are going to do with them. Am I allowed to sign these checks and deposit them into my own account even if they are made out to my daughters name?
Answer
My dad does it for my brother, who is a minor.
Usually the bank will ask you to sign your name on the back of the check, then put "parent of a minor".

I am going to be a Godmother for the first time. What do I get the baby as a present for the Baptism?

My best friend of 22 years has asked me to be the Godmother of her recently born baby girl. I am not a Godmother for anyone else. Therefore, I have no idea on what to buy for the Christening/Baptism. We are Catholic. I am on a budget due to the fact I have to purchase a plane ticket to attend. So please no extravagant answers. Be realistic!! Thank you!!! :)
Answer
1) A baby bible.
2) A nice photo album
3) A small keepsake statue/ornament for decorating their room, or commemorating this on a Christmas tree. (Precious Moments is still popular)
4) A pretty dress!
5) Realistic, badly needed items, such as diapers, clothes, formula; in a gift basket (you can get baskets and ribbon at a dollar store :p )
6) A "baby ring" (my son's cost about $25). It's a baby sized ring, more commonly worn by mom as a necklace :p
7) A charm bracelet with detachable links she can add to as she grows.
Anyway, I hope you've at least got some ideas now.
Best of Luck~
