What should I get a 1-yr-old for her birthday?

My niece's 1st bday is this weekend and I don't know what to get her... what would be a good present for a 1-yr-old. She has a ton of toys but most of them are her older sister's old baby toys (sister is 3). Or would clothes be better?

Also, my older niece is having MAJOR jealousy issues with her little sister. (Her parents clearly favor the baby too so it's hard) Would it be appropriate to get her a little present too, without distracting from the baby's day?

Just get a little toy that is somehow personalized, therefor it stands out as especially hers and not a handmedown.
for the older sister, i think it's appropriate to bring a little gift for her as well, to let her know she's special. People did that to my sis and I when we had birthdays when we were little.
But remember, on the older sister's birthday, bring a little something for the baby, as well, so that it's fair.

How long does a baby usually stay in size 12 months before going to the next size which I think is 18 months.?

My daughter will be 1 year old in October and people are wondering what size clothes to get her for her first birthday. I would like to get her some winter clothes, but not sure what size to get. I am so confused. Please help!

baby clothes double up with their age..ex: age 6 mos , wears sz 12 mos . age 12 mos (1 yr) wears size 2..age 2 wears size 4. this works unless the baby is still very small for its age.. i would go with sz 2 for birthday gifts.
