First birthday baby gift? Any ideas?

Abbey

My best friend is having a first birthday party for her little one. I would just get a toy but I would like it to be more meaningful than that since I am so close to them. Any ideas?

Answer
Hai I would recommend you to give this witty 10-piece set. It emphasizes the important things in life for newborn boys and girls.
It includes,

* Cotton/polyester
* Machine washable
* Imported
* Set includes receiving blanket, bib, booties, burp cloth, bottle, washcloth, sippy cup, fork & spoon set, bodysuit and gift basket

I presented this for 3 babies,their parents all loved this set they said its so useful and kids loves the milk bottles very much.
It costs not more than 40$.U pretty much get them in deal if u r lucky.
just check this link below.

Else go to Macys.com and check them in kids and babies section.
Its called.
"Baby Gear Baby Boy & Girl 10-Piece "Got Milk?" Gift Set"
Reg. $50.00

Hope this idea helps because they use this gift daily and they remember u whenever they use it..

Gift Card Baby Shower?

My sister is having her first baby and she lives in Alaska. We want to hold a baby shower for her and she will not be able to attend. Because of the cost to ship things to Alaska we were thinking about doing a gift card baby shower and having people put on the gift card what they would like it to be used on. What are your thoughts and how do I word the invitation?

Answer
The gift cards are a good idea but maybe you could give people a few options. When I was in the Army and had a birthday, holiday or other gift giving event I could not be there for in person, I would think up creative ways to get the gift I wanted to give to the person it was for. One idea was to call a store local to the person and purchase the gift over the phone with a credit card. I did this for my sister once. I called Peir 1 Imports and bought her a papasan chair and stool and I wouldn't tell her what it was. She had to wait until her birthday and go to the store to pick it up. The store agreed not to release it to her until then.

Another idea is mailing a gift card along with a catalogue or clippings of the item you want them to purchase for themself. I did this one year for Christmas presents for my family members.

Also, it's great that you are hosting a shower for your sister but she may be really sad she can't be there for it. Maybe you could have someone video tape all the guests wishing her well and send the tape in a box along with a few party favors, hats, balloons, and other misc things from the shower - sort of a shower in a box. That would be really sweet.

WHatever you do I'm sure your sister will appreciate it. Good for you for being such a great sister! Cheers!
