My fiance works with a woman who gave birth yesterday to her son. The couple is relatively modern but still traditional enough that her mother came to stay with her for 6 weeks. (Its tradition for the new mom to 'go home' and be taken care of by her mother, but it just wasn't possible for her, so they improvised.) I'd like to get her a card and maybe small baby gift. Would that be okay? What phrases may be nice and traditional to write in the card as celebration for a new son? Any insight is appreciated. I've looked online and can't really find any information. Thanks!

Gifts to bring to India?
Curious2
I live in America. The school I go to offers mission trips to India, Africa, and local. India interests me, and I hope to go. It is one of the poorest cities, so I have heard. What should I bring for the babies, kids, teens, and adults? Please be specific with what to get for each gender. I want to give them little gifts :) I heard they are very accepting!
By the way, I can only have two suitcases up to 50 lbs. each, and thats for 1 month.
