My best friend is having a baby in October and I was wondering what would be some good ideas on what I should get her. I want to get her stuff for the baby and stuff for her and her hubby. I live in Arkansas and she lives in California so I will need to be able to ship it. Thanks for your ideas.

What about the necessities.....I am a mom to be and would love to get clothes (even ones that are not neccisarly for a newborn but maybe for when the baby is 12 months or so). Also a mom can never have to many diapers(for when the baby is a little older like 6-9 months, yearl old or so). Mabye get some of these with baby lotion, baby shampoo, and put them in a little basket for her.

To new moms--What is the best baby gift you received?

Answer
Pre-baby: a gift certificate for 3D ultrasound
Post-baby: it's a tie - my friends at church set up a rotating schedule to visit and brought over dinner (plus sides and dessert!) every other day for the first month so we didn't have to cook and could just enjoy our little one and my mom gave me a gift certificate for a housekeeeper so when I was receiving tons of guests after the baby was born I didn't have to worry about nagging my hubbie into doing the hard-core scrubbing (c-section)
Traditional baby gift: I got a beautiful Hooter Hider, which got a lot of use: I was able to socialize and didn't feel like I had to hide when my baby needed to feed (blankets were too warm for my spring/summer babies and always shifted), it also worked for cleaning up messes when we were out and I needed something, it was a blanket to lay my little one on when we were someplace I didn't feel was clean, and it made a great shade extender on the stroller. http://shop.bebeaulait.com/Hooter-Hiders-New
